On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

The House took up the message from the Council relative to bill No. 15, of this House, entitled "a bill to amend an act to incorporate the village of Racine," which had been returned to this House by mistake as having passed the Council, and on his motion,

The House re-considered its vote by which the amendments supposed to have been made by the Council, were concurred in, and ordered the said bill to be transmitted to the Council.

And then the House adjourned until a quarter past 2 o'clock, P. M.

On motion of Mr. Capron,

The House considered the following bills from the Council in the committee of the whole House, Mr. Elmore in the chair, to wit:

No. 32, "an act to change the name of certain towns in Wal. worth county."

No, 35, "a bill relating to Dodge county."

And after some time spent therein, the Speaker resumed the chair, when Mr. Elmore reported that he had been directed by the committee of the whole House to report the said bills without amednment.

Mr. Hamilton moved to amend bill No. 35, by inserting the. following as the 4th section, to wit:

"Before the second and third sections of this act shall take effect they shall be submitted to the electors of Dodge county at the special election to be holden on the first Monday of May

next, and if approved by a majority of the legal voters of said county, shall then take effect but not otherwise. The county commissioners at their next session shall prescribe the manner of holding such elections of which due notice shall be given by the clerk, which notice shall be posted up in all the election precincts of said county."

Mr. Hunkins moved that the bill and amendment be ordered to lie on the table.

Which was disagreed to.

The question was then put on adopting the amendment.

And it was determined in the affirmative.

The bill was then ordered to the third reading.

Mr. Palmer made a motin to suspend the sixteenth rule of this House, with reference to the said bill.

Which being put, was disagreed to.

Mr. Tripp moved that bill No. 32, he postponed until the first day of the next session of the Assembly;

And pending the question thereon.

The following message from the Council was received by their Secretary, to wit:

Mr. Speaker-I am directed to inform this House that the Council have this day concurred in the amendment thereto, to bill No. 21, a bill to authorize the construction of certain dams across Rock river, in which the concurrence of this House is asked."

Mr. Long, from the committee on enrolled bills, reported as being correctly enrolled.

Which was signed by the Speaker and ordered to be presen. ted to the President of the Council for his signature.

The House took up for consideration the following resolution

Resolved, That the committee appointed to revise the law relative to township government be instructed to provide by law for the creating of new towns, and the altering town boundaries. On motion of Mr. Darling,

The resolution was amended by inserting after the word "resolved" "if the Council concur."

The resolution was then passed.

A message from the Council by their secretary :

"Mr. Speaker-I am directed to inform this Hause that the Council have this day passed bill No. 13, [H. R. F.]" a bill in relation to the duties of certain territorial officers," with amendments, in which the concurrence of this House is asked."

Mr. Hunkins made a motion that the House do now take up bill No. 18, [C. F.] entitled " a bill to provide for the election of a territorial printer."

And pending the question thereon,

Mr. Hamilton moved that the House do now adjourn.

The Honse then took up the said bill No. 18, [C. F.] and on motion of Mr. Hunkins.

The House resolved itself into the committee of the whole House, for the consideration of said bill, Mr. Walker in the chair.

And pending the report of the committee, the secretary of the Council being announced, the Speaker took the chair, when the following message was received:

"Mr. Speaker-The Council have this day passed bill No. 26, "a bill to repeal the several acts concerning the militia," in which the concurrence of this House is requested.

The Council have concurred in a joint resolution of this House relative to creating new towns and altering town boundaries, and have refused to concur in the amendment of this House to bill.
