And for his laft Teftification thereof.

The Body of

RANULPH HURLSTON, Efq;

One of the Honourable Council of the North Parts, Lyeth here in Hope of a joyful Resurrection. Who,

Adorned with great Gifts of Learning, Gravity, and Wisdom, joined with rare Godlynefs, Was always careful of advancing

The fincere Doctrine of CHRIST.
And of that Equity,

Which every where ought to be obferv'd,
Never ceafing his faithful Labours

To profit the

Church and Commonwealth;

Until it pleafed our gracious God,
Mercifully in a very short Moment,
Without any the leaft Dolour of Death,
To end all the Labour of his faithful Servant,
And to Tranflate his Soul to eternal Reft,
13 April, Anno CHRISTI Incarnationes 1587.
All the Days of his Peregrination were 62 Years,
For whofe godly Life

The anointed Saviour be bleffed for ever. Amen.

The faithful Martyrologian of our English Church.
A moft difcret Searcher

Into the Antiquities of Histories;

For the evangelical Truth.

From the Duft of Oblivion;

Phoenixes

Died the 18 of April 1587, in the 70th Year of his Age.

On MARY, Queen of Scots.*

To the gracious Memory, and eternal Hope of MARY STUART, Queen of Scots, Dowager of France, Daughter and Sole-Heirefs of JAMES the 5th,

King of Scots:

And great Grand Daughter of HENRY the 7th,

By:

By MARGARET, his eldest Daughter,

(Married to JAMES the 4th King of Scots.) Defcended from EDWARD the 4th King of England, By ELIZABETH, his eldest Daughter, Confort to FRANCIS the 2d, King of France; True and undoubted Heiress to the Crown of England, And Mother to the moft mighty Prince JAMES, King of Great-Britain.

She was of a moft ancient and truly-royal Defcent,
Related to the greatest Princes of all Europe.
Eminent for all Accomplishments of Mind and Body.
But fuch are the Viciffitudes of human Things!
After an Imprisonment of about Twenty Years,
And a firm, but alas ! 'fuccefslefs Struggle
Against the Calumnies of the Malicious,
The Sufpicions of the timorous,
And the Snares of the implacable,
She loft her Head!

By an Act of unparrallelled Severity,
And to the Disgrace of

The Sacredness of Majefty.

With a noble Contempt of the World,
And a Soul fuperior to the Fear of Death,-
And to the Terror of the Executioner;
Leaving her Soul to CHRIST,

The Kingdom to her Son JAMES,
And to the Spectators of this atrocious Murder,
A Pattern of moft exalted Fortitude;
She composedly fubmitted her Royal Head to the Axe,
And exchanged a precarious Life

For the Eternity of Heaven,

On the 18th of February 1587, Aged 46.
