RESOLUTIONS INTRODUCED.

Jt. Res. No. 8, S.,

WHEREAS, Continuous effort has been made during the past four sessions of the congress of the United States to secure legislation giving greater effectiveness to the interstate commerce act, by investing the commission created by that act with larger authority with respect to the rates established by common carriers for the transportation of persons or property; there fore, be it

Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That we respectfully memorialize the fifty-seventh congress of the United States to enact such legislation as is contemplated in the foregoing preamble before the expiration of the present session thereof.

Further resolved, That it is the opinion of this legislature that the bills now pending in congress, known in the senate as the revised Elkins bill, S. 3125, and in the house as the Wanger bill, H. R. 15592, are calculated to provide the proper relief; and that we respectfully request the senators and representatives in congress from this state to use their best efforts to expedite the passage and secure the enactment of one or the other of said bills at the present session of congress. Resolved, That a copy of the foregoing preamble and resolutions be immediately transmitted by the secretary of state to the president of the senate and to the speaker of the house of representatives, and each of the senators and representatives from this state.
