9 Then was King Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his COUNTENANCE was changed in him, and his LORDS were ASTONIED.

10 Now the Queen, by Reason of the Words of the King and his Lords, came into the Banquet House; and the Queen spake, and said, O King, live for ever: let not thy Thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy Countenance be changed.

12 Forasmuch as an excellent SPIRIT, and Knowledze, Interpreting of Dreams, and shewing of hard Sentences, dissolving of Doubts were found in the same DANIEL: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the Interpretation.

13 Then was Daniel brought in before the King, and the King spake, and said unto Daniel, art thou that DaNiel, which art of the Children of the Captivity of Judah.

14 I have heard of thee, that the Spirit of the Gods is in thee, and that Light, and Understanding, and excellent Wisdom is found in thee.

15 And now the wise Men have been brought in before me, that they should read this Writing, and make known unto me the Interpretation thereof: but they could not sew the Interpretation of the Thing.

16 Now if thou canst read the Writing, and make known the Interpretation thereof, thou shalt be cloathed with Scarlet, and have a chain of Gold about thy Neck, and shalt be the third Ruler in the Kingdom.

17 Then Daniel answered before the King, Let thy Gifts be to thy self, and give thy Rewards to another, yet I will sead the Writing unto the King, and make known to him the Interpretation.

18 o`thou King, the most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy Father a Kingdom, and Majesty, and Glory, and Honour.

19 And for the Majesty be gave him, all People, Nations, and Languages trembled, and feared before him: whom he WOULD, he slew, and WHOM he WOULD, he kept ALIVE, and whom he would, he set up, and whom he would, he put down.

20 But when his Heart was lifted up, and his Mind hardned in Pride, he was deposed from his Kingly Throne, and they took his Glory from him.

21 And he was driven from the Sons of Men, and his HEART was made like the Beasts, and his Dwelling was with the wild Afles: they fed him with Grass like Oxen, and his Body was wet with the Dew of Heaven, till he knew that the most High God ruled in the Kingdom of Men, and that he APPOINTETH over it whomsoever he will.

22 And thou his Son, O Belshazzar, hast not HUMBLED thinç HEART, though thou knewest all this:

ven, and they have and thy Lords, and thou hast prais.

23 But hast lifted up thy self against the LORD of Heaven, and they have brought the Vessels of his House before thee, and thou and thy Lords, thy Wives and thy Concubines have drunk Wine in them, and thou hast praised the Gods of Silver and Gold, of Brass, Iron, Wood, and Stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the GOD in whose Hand thy Breath is, and whose are all thy Ways, hast thou not glorified.

24 Then was the part of the Hand sent from him, and this Writing was written.

25 And this is the Writing that was written, Mene MeNE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.

26 This is the Interpretation of the Thing, Mene, God hath numbred thy Kingdom, and hath finished it.

27. TEKEL, thou art weighed in the Balances, and art found wanting.

28 Peres, thy Kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

29 Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with Scarlet, and put a Chain of Gold about his Neck, and made a Proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third Ruler in the Kingdom.

30 In that Night was Belshazzar the King of the Chaldeans Nain.

31 And Darius the Median took the Kingdom, being about threescore and two Years old.

3. Then this Daniel was preferred above the Presidents and Princes, because an excellent Spirit was in him ; and the King thought to set him over the whole Realm. :

4 Ther, the Presidents and Princes fought to find occasion against Daniel, concerning the Kingdom, but they could find none Occasion, nor Fault: forasmuch as he was faithful, Deither was there any Error or FAULT found in him.

5. Then said these Men, we shall not find any Occasion against this Daniel, except we find against him conceming the Law of his God.

6 Then these Presidents and Princes assembled together to the King, and faid thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. - 7 All the Presidents of the Kingdom, the Governors and the Princes, the Counsellors and the Captains have confulted together, to ftablish a Royal Statute, and to make a firm Decree, that whosoever shall ask a Petition of any GOD or Man for thirty Days, fave of thee, O King, he shall be caft into the Den of Lions.

& Now, O King, establish the Decree, and fign the Writing that it be not changed, according to the Law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

9 Wherefore King Darius signed the Writing and the Decree.

10 Now when Daniel knew that the Writing was figned, he went into his House, and his Windows being open in his Chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his Knees THREE TIMES a Day, and PRAYED, and gave Thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

1 Then these Men assembled, and found Daniel pray. ing, and making Supplication before his God.

12 Then they came near, and spoke before the King concerning the King's Decree, Haft thou not signed a Decree, that every Man that shall ask a Petition of any God or Man, within thirty Days, save of thee O King, shall be cast into the Den of Lions? the King answered and said, The Thing is true, according to the Law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.

13 Then answered they, and said hefore the King, that Daniel which is of the Children of the Captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O King, nor the Decree that thou hast ligned, but maketh his Petition three Times a Day.

14 Then the King, when he heard thefe Words, wa Sore displeased with himself, and set his Heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the Sun to deliver him.

15 Then these Men allembled unto the King, and said unto the King, Know, O King, that the Law of the Medes and Persians is, that no Decree nor Statute which the King establisheth, may be changed.

16 Then the King commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the Den of Lions: now the King spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.

17 And a Stone was brought, and laid upon the Mouth of the Den, and the King sealed it with his own Signet, and with the Signet of his Lords, that the Purpole might not be changed concerning Daniel.

18 Then the King went to his Palace, and passed the Night in Fasting: neither were Instruments of Musick brought before him, and his Sleep went from him.

19 Then the King arose very early in the Morning, and went in Haste unto the Den of Lions.

20 And when he came to the Den, he cried with a la-, mentable Voice unto. Daniel, and the King spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, Servant of the Living God, is thy God whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the Lions?

21 Then said Daniel unto the King, O King live for ever.
