Redemption of and sixty and eighteen hundred and sixty-one, may pay land sold for tax- the taxes on the same for the year eighteen hundred and

fifty-eight, and any person desiring to redeem such lands under or by virtue of any law for such redemption, shall be required to deposit with the county treasurer of said Benton county, in addition to the requirements of section 87 of page 44 of the session laws of 1860, the amount so by said purchaser paid for the taxes on said land for the year eighteen hundred and fifty-eight, together with interest from the time of such payment, and twenty per centum penalty on the amount so paid.

Sec. 3. The duties and compensation of all county of ficers in respect to the advertisement, sale and redemption of lands authorized to be sold by this Act, shall be the same as under the laws now in force in regard to the advertisement sale and redemption of lands sold for tases as prescribed

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect from and after its passage.

CHAPTER XXXIX.

An Act Authorizing the County Surveyor of Le Sueur

County to Transcribe the Record of Town Plats of' said
County.

Section 1. Duty of Surveyor.

2. Purchase of suitable books-how paid.
3. Duty of Register of Deeds.
4. What to be constituted the legal record.
5. Compensation of County Surveyor and Register of Deeds.
6. Act, when to take effect.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota:

SECTION 1. That for the better preservation of the

record thereof, the county surveyor of Le Sueur County Duty of Burveyor is hereby authorized and empowered to transcribe into a

suitable book, all the town plats of the different towns

able books

and villages within the limits of Le Sueur County, which are recorded or on file in the office of the Register of Deeds of said county, and to copy each and all of the field notes, deeds, certificates, and writing of any kind on the original.

SEC. 2. The county surveyor is required to procure at the expense of Le Sueur County, a suitable book for the Purchase of suitpurpose, which book shall be well bound and shall contain at least twice as many pages as are needed for the plats now recorded.

Sec. 3. That whenever the said town plats are so transcribed and writings copied by the county surveyor, of Deeda the said book shall be deposited in the office of the Register of Deeds of said Le Sueur County, and the Register of Deeds shall examine the same and compare each plat with the original, and if found correct, shall certity in writing that the same is a correct copy of the original plat and the writing thereon.

Sec. 4. The said plats transcribed and certified to as aforesaid, shall be and are hereby made and constituted What to be conthe legal record of the town plats so transcribed and certitied to, and the same, or certified copies thereof, shall be admitted as evidence in all the courts of this State, in the same manner and with the same effect as the originals or copies of the originals; Provided, This Act shall in no wise effect any orders made by any court vacating any part of the said plats.

SEC. 5. The county surveyor of said county shall be compensation entitled to receive the following fees as compensation for his services : For transcribing plats, one cent for each lot the said plats may contain, and ten cents per folio for copying the writings thereon. And the Register of Deeds shall receive the sum of fifty cents each for comparing the plats, and twenty-five cents for each certificate, which sums shall be audited and allowed by the board of commissioners, and shall be paid out of the treasury of LeSueur County, upon orders drawn thereon.

Sec. 6. This Act shall take effect and be in force from and after the passage thereof.

CHAPTER XL.

An Act Relating to the Town of La Crescent.

SECTION 1. Repeal of former acts-manner of levying taxes.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota:

SECTION 1. That so much of section two of chapter thirty-eight of special laws, approved February 2d, 1858,

as requires the appointment of a special assessor of taxes, Repeal of former is hereby repealed, and hereafter the town council of the acts-manner of

town of La Crescent in levying a tax for corporation levying taxes purposes,

shall take as the basis of assessment, the assessments made for State and county purposes.

An Act to Vacate the Town of Woodstock, in the County

of Stearns.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota:

Sec. 2. This Act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

An Act Vacating Nolan's Addition to the Town of High

Forest, in Olmsted County.

SECTION 1. Vacation of Nolan's addition to High Forest.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota :

SECTION 1. That the addition known as Nolan's addition to the town of High Forest, in Olmsted county, and the recorded plat thereof, and the lots, blocks, streets Vacation of No. and alleys therein, save and except the following lots and lan's addition blocks, and the streets adjacent thereto, to wit: Lot four (4) in block nine (9); lots two, three, four and five, in

block twelve, and lot five in block thirteen, be and the same are hereby declared vacated.

SEC. 2. This Act shell take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Minnesota:

SECTION 1. That the towns of Duluth and Portland, after consolida. St. Louis county, Minnesota, be consolidated under the

corporate name of Duluth. Annual election,

SEO. 2. That there shall be an election held on the when to be held first Monday in April, 1861 for the election of officers of

the said town of Duluth, (by this Act embracing the corporate limits of Portland), and that an election of officers of said corporation shall be held annually thereafter, on the first Monday in April : Provided, That the officers elected on the tirst Monday of April 1861, shall hold their office until their successors are duly elected and qualified.

Seo. 3. This Act shall take effect and be in force from and after the 30th day of March 1861.
