NOTWITHSTANDING the several arithmes tics now in use, it has been suggested that one, containing such rules only, as occur in trade and busiRefs, and adapted to the capacities of youth, world be of extenfive utility. The price wiil be so much reduced by the omission of those rules which are zanecessary in common business, that the poor, as well as the rich, may furnish themselves with books ; which has been too much negleded in most of our country schools. Those, who wish to make farther advances can peruse more extenkve treatises.

This is calculated upon the method, both of pounds, shillings and pence, and federal money, because both are in ufe; but either can be omitted, if thought neceffary.

The author does not presume to offer this as a produ&ior entirely original ; on the contrary, le acknowledges that be bose made many extraðs from Bonnycaftle's Scholar's Guide, and some from Vyse's Tutor's Guide, and is indebtedy for some aid, to a few other curhors:
