peans and Eurasians up to 25 in number is Rs. 5 each per mensem, whilst 5 are admitted free, and for natives up to 40 in number, Rs. 2 per mensem; but apprentices in excess of these numbers are received on payment of the same messing fees as Engineer students, except Rs. 2 for rent. Certain Scholarships are awarded to European and Eurasian students of this Department by the Imperial Anglo-Indian Association.

Stipends :-After the final examination, ten stipends of Rs. 10, and ten of Rs. 6 each, tenable for one year and a half, will be awarded to those apprentices who pass the best examination, both theoretical and practical.

The Government of India guarantees each year one appointment as an Upper Subordinate on the pensionable Establishment of the Railway Branch of the Public Works Department to an apprentice student.

Electrical Department.

Selections for this Department are made after the final examination of the Apprentice Department. Electrical students complete their training in the Department and are trained upon the 111 volt direct current lighting plant as also the 220 volt 3 phase power plant of the College Workshops.

Artizan Department.

Boys, preferably the sons of workmen, are admitted for workshop training, on attaining the age of 12 years. Stipends varying from Re. I to Rs. 3 a month are paid according to their skill.

Mining Department.

Selections for this Department are at present made from Apprentice students, after they have passed the 3rd year examinations. They receive their practical training in mines.

Workshops.

The workshops consist of the following shops: (1) Carpentry, (2) Blacksmiths, (3) Iron and Brass Foundry, (4) Turning and Fitting, each under a skilled European Foreman. The machinery is driven from an Electrical Power Plant.

Agricultural Department.

This Department has been opened for teaching Agriculture.
