Your Majefty's Declaration, that there has not been the leaft colour given for thofe falfe and fcandalous Reports which have been fpread, that a Separate Peace has been treated, must be the higheft Satisfaction' to all Your People; and we readily embrace this Opportunity to affure Your Majefty, that we entirely relie upon Your great Wisdom in fetling the Terms of Peace.

Your Majefty has, on all Occafions, fhewn fuch a Tenderness and Regard to the Welfare of your People, and fuch a Generous and Difinterefted Concern for the fupport and advantage of your Allies, in fo many Instances, during the Profecution of the prefent War, that we have no Reason to doubt Your Majefty's care of both in a Treaty of Peace; and that the most proper Ways will be concerted, of procuring a juft Satisfaction, to • all in Alliance with Your Majefty, according to their Several Treaties, and, particularly, with relation to Spain and the Weft-Indies. However, we "think ourselves obliged, with the greatest Grati'tude to acknowledge Your Majesty's Goodness and Condefcenfion, in promifing to communicate to Your Parliament, the Terms of a General Peace before the fame shall be concluded: And this, if any thing can, muft entirely filence those feditious Reports that have been induftriously and maliciously spread abroad, to the difhonour of Your Majefty, That a Separate Peace has been treated; which can have been raised only by fome Factious Incendiaries, who, to cover their own Difaffection to the prefent Establishment and Administration, and fuch Defigns as they have not dared publickly to own, endeavour to distract your Subjects with unreafonable and groundless Di'ftrufts and Jealoufies.

"Your Majesty's Approbation of the Zeal Your 'FAITHFUL COMMONS have already expreffed, for railing the neceffary Supplies, will en gage them to continue their Application, and to give all poffible Dispatch thereunto.

We are very fenfible how much the Liberty of the Prefs is abus'd by turning it into fuch a "Licentioufnels as is a juft Reproach to the Nation; fince not only falfe and fcandalous Libels are printed and publifhed against Your Majefty's Government, but the moft horrid Blafphemies against GOD and Religion.

And

And we beg leave, humbly to affure Your Majefty, that we will do our utmoft to find out a Remedy equal to this Mifchief, and that may effectually cure it.
