My 2nd grade daughter and I actually enjoy this book as much as we can possibly enjoy math. It is not her strong suit, so anything that helps is a good thing. The word problems are like little stories that are interesting. They help my daughter to see the application practically instead of just numbers on paper. It covers addition, subtraction, multiplication, time, measurement, and simple fractions. It is only 136 pages long so it moves rather fast, but in an understandable way. There are plenty of review problems that can be re-done if needed. We use this book orally and add an abacus when needed. Any thing would do: beans, bears, buttons, etc.
