Let heav'n, and earth, and sea, and skies, In one melodious concert rise,

To swell th' inspiring theme.

2 Ye angels, catch the thrilling sound,
While all th' adoring thrones around
His boundless mercies sing;
Let ev'ry list'ning saint above
Wake all the tuneful soul of love,
And touch the sweetest string.

3 Join, all ye spheres, the vocal choir;
Thou sun, transcendent orb of fire,
And moon of milder light!
Whate'er a blooming world contains,
That wings the air, or skims the plains,
In songs of praise unite!

4 Let man, by nobler passions mov'd-
Man, who hath richer mercies prov'd-
In praise his pow'rs employ,
Spread God's eternal Name around,
Till heav'n's high arch flings back the sound,
The general burst of joy.

PSALM CL. P. M.

PRAISE the Lord, ye heav'ns adore Him:
Praise Him, angels in the height:

Sun and moon rejoice before Him,
Praise Him all ye stars of light.

2 Praise the Lord, for He hath spoken,
Worlds his mighty voice obey'd;
Laws, which never shall be broken,
For their guidance hath He made.

3 Praise the Lord, for He is glorious,
Never shall his promise fail:
God hath made his saints victorious,
Sin and death shall not prevail.
4 Praise the God of our salvation,

Hosts on high his power proclaim;
Heav'n and earth, and all creation,
Laud and magnify his Name!

PSALM CL. Version 2. SEVENS.

1 PRAISE, O praise the name divine, Hal.

Praise it at the hallow'd shrine; Hal.

Let the firmament on high

To its Maker's praise reply.

2 Every tongue with one accord

Praise the name of Jacob's Lord;
Let his acts and pow'r supreme
To your songs afford a theme.

3 Let the organ in his praise

Learn its loudest note to raise;
Let each voice with grateful sound
From the vaulted roof rebound.

4 All who vital breath enjoy

In his praise that breath employ,
And in one great chorus join-
Praise, O praise the name divine!

Advent.

HYMN I. P. M.

OSANNA to the living Lord! Hosanna to th' Incarnate Word; To Christ, Creator, Saviour, King, Let earth, let heaven, Hosanna sing! Hosanna, Lord! Hosanna in the highest! 2 Hosanna, Lord! thine angels cry; Hosanna, Lord! thy saints reply; Above, beneath us, and around, The dead and living swell the sound. Hosanna, Lord! Hosanna in the highest! 3 O Saviour! with protecting care, Return to this thy house of prayer: Assembled in thy sacred Name,

Where we thy parting promise claim! Hosanna, Lord! Hosanna in the highest!

4 But, chiefest, in our cleansed breast, Eternal! bid thy Spirit rest,

And make our secret soul to be A temple pure, and worthy Thee! Hosanna, Lord! Hosanna in the highest!

5 So, in the last and dreadful day,
When heav'n and earth shall melt away!
Thy flock, redeem'd from sinful stain,
Shall swell the sound of praise again.
Hosanna, Lord! Hosanna in the highest !

HYMN II. L. M.

HE day of wrath, that dreadful day
When heav'n and earth shall pass away!
What power shall be a sinner's stay?
Whom shall he trust that dreadful day?

2 When, shrivelling like a parched scroll,
The flaming heav'ns together roll;
When, louder yet, and yet more dread,
Swells the high trump that wakes the dead;

3 Oh on that day, that wrathful day,

When man to judgment wakes from clay,
Be Thou, O Christ! thy servants' stay,
Though heav'n and earth shall pass away!

HYMN III. P. M.

REAT God of Hosts! come down in Thy
Glory;

Shake earth and heav'n with thine awful tread;, Seal Thou the book of our world's dark story, Summon to judgment the quick and the dead! 2 Great God of Hosts! come down to rule o'er us! Long have we pray'd for Thy peaceful reign; Change this sad earth to an Eden before us, Make it the mansion of bliss again!

3 Great God of Hosts! the dreadful, the glorious!

Come and establish thy kingly throne; Over the legions of hell victorious, Rule in the world of thy saints alone!

HE

HYMN IV. L. M.

E comes! He comes! the Judge is near!
From heav'n the signs foretold appear:
How welcome to the faithful soul,
Though lightnings flash, and thunders
roll!

2 From heav'n angelic voices sound,
Behold, the King of Glory crown'd!
Girt with his omnipresent might,
And all his radiant form is light.
3 Descending on his glorious throne,
He claims the kingdoms for his own;
The kingdoms all obey his word,
And hail Him their triumphant Lord.

HYMN V. SEVENS.

1 IN the sun and moon and stars,
Signs and wonders there shall be !
Earth shall quake with inward wars,
Nations with perplexity.

2 Soon shall ocean's hoary deep,
Toss'd with stronger tempests, rise,
Darker storms the mountains sweep,
Redder lightning rend the skies.
