allowed by law in obtaining cadavers for the anatomical laboratory of the University of Michigan, between June first, nineteen hundred eight, and such time as expense for the purpose of obtaining anatomical material may be incurred under the provisions of an act entitled "An act to provide for securing and transporting unclaimed dead human bodies to be used for dissection in the advancement of science." AN ACT to amend sections three and seven of act number
one hundred eighty-two of the public acts of eighteen hun-
dred eighty-five, entitled "An act to provide for the appoint-
ment of a State Live Stock Sanitary Commission and a
State Veterinarian, and to prescribe their powers and
duties, and to prevent and suppress contagious and infecti-
ous diseases among the live stock of the State," being sec-
tions five thousand six hundred twenty-nine and five thou-
sand six hundred thirty-three of the Compiled Laws of
eighteen hundred ninety-seven, and to add three new sec-
tions thereto to stand as sections twenty-four, twenty-five
and twenty-six.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:
SECTION 1.

Sections three and seven of act number one amended and hundred eighty-two of the public acts of eighteen hundred eighty-five, entitled "An act to provide for the appointment of a State Live Stock Sanitary Commission and a State Veterinarian, and to prescribe their powers and duties, and to prevent and suppress contagious and infectious diseases among the live stock of the State," being sections five thous and six hundred twenty-nine and five thousand six hundred thirty-three of the Compiled Laws of eighteen hundred ninetyseven, are hereby amended, and three new sections are hereby added to follow section twenty-three to stand as sections twenty-four, twenty-five and twenty-six, said amended sections and added sections to read as follows:

SEC. 3. Each commissioner shall receive the sum of five dollars per day and necessary expenses for the time actually spent in the discharge of his duties; and the veterinary surgeon shall receive the sum of five dollars per day and necessary expenses for the time when employed.

If the carcass of any such animal shall pass the federal inspection without being condemned, the owner of the animal shall receive all proceeds secured from the sale of such carcass after payment for shipping, handling and slaughtering charges have been deducted, in lieu of the above mentioned fifty per cent appraisal value. If the carcass of any such animal shall be condemned by the federal inspectors, the owner of the animal shall receive the proceeds of the sale of the hide, tallow, offal or any other proceeds from the sale of the carcass after deducting the cost of handling, shipping and slaughtering, in addition to the above mentioned fifty per cent appraisal valuation.

SEC. 25. The importation of cattle into the State for breeding or dairy purposes is hereby prohibited, excepting when such cattle are accompanied by a certificate of inspection made by a duly qualified veterinary surgeon, who is a graduate of a recognized veterinary college in the United States, What to show. Such certificate shall show that at the time of said inspection and within sixty days prior to shipment said cattle had been subjected to tuberculin test and Were free from tuberculosis. Duly certified certificates of inspection, giving in full the temperature records of the tubercu lin test, must be prepared in triplicate, one of which is furnished the shipper, one furnished the transportation company hauling the cattle, and one forwarded immediately to the pres ident of the State Live Stock Sanitary Commission. The expense of such inspection and certificate shall be paid by the owner of the cattle.

SEC. 26. The provisions of this act shall not apply to per sons transferring cattle through the State on cars to points beyond the State, or to persons living near the State line and owning land in adjoining states, and who may drive said cattle to and from said land for pasturage.

AN ACT to amend section twenty-one of chapter three of act number one hundred sixty-four of the public acts of eighteen hundred eighty-one, entitled "An act to revise and consolidate the laws relating to public instruction and primary schools, and to repeal all statutes and acts contravening the provisions of this act," as amended by act number one hundred sixty-five of the public acts of nineteen hundred one, the same being compiler's section four thousand six hundred eighty-six of the Compiled Laws of eighteen hundred ninety-seven.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. within the meaning of the law shall consist of the following articles, to-wit: A set of wall maps, the grand divisions, the United States and Michigan, not exceeding twelve dollars in price, a globe not exceeding eight dollars, a dictionary not exceeding ten dollars, a reading chart not exceeding five dollars, and a case for library books not exceeding ten dollars; also a looking-glass, comb, towel, water pail, cup, ash pail, poker, stove shovel, broom, dust pan, duster, wash basin and soap, and upon the order of the district board shall furnish the school house with such other apparatus as may be necessary for doing efficient work;

Seventh, To keep an accurate account of all expenses incurred by him as director, and such accounts shall be audited by the moderator and treasurer, and on their written order shall be paid out of any money provided for the purpose;

Eighth, To present at each annual meeting an estimate of the expenses necessary to be incurred during the ensuing year by the director as provided by law, and for the payment of the services of any district officer;

Ninth, To preserve and file copies of all reports made to the school inspectors and safely preserve and keep all books, papers and other documents belonging to the office of director or to the district, when not otherwise provided for, and to deliver the same to his successor in office;

Tenth, To perform such other duties as are or shall be required of the director by law or the district board. Approved June 1, 1909.

AN ACT to authorize the State Military Board to compensate members of the permanent organized militia of Michigan for injuries received while in the performance of any duty under orders from competent authority.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. If any member of "he permanent organized militia of Michigan be injured while in the performance of any duty under orders from competent State authority, and said injury is such that the said person is prevented from pursuing his ordinary work, after the termination of the duty, during the performance of which the injury occurred, the State Military Board may, upon application made by said person, pay for his necessary medical, surgical and hospital attendance, after the conclusion of the military duty during which the injury was received, not to exceed, however, the sum of two hundred dollars, and may also pay to the person so
