Earl of March Gen, Yates INDEX To the Races at which Stakes close before the publication of the first Sheet Calendar of 1847, with reference to the number of No. 1846. 1847. 1. Bath and Somerset The following List of THOROUGH-BRED Foals, dropped in 1846, has been compiled almost exclusively from returns received from the breeders. It appears from these that, of 1311 thorough-bred mares used for breeding in the year 1845– 485 produced colts, 35 cast their foals, 461 produced fillies, 330 were barren. The publishers are aware that this first Annual List, though comprehensive, is still far from complete, especially as regards the Irish studs; but they believe that, as it becomes more generally known, the utility of such a publication will be acknowledged ; and they hope that all proprietors of thorough-bred mares whose foals are omitted this year will be induced to assist in rendering future lists more perfect, by making a return of the foals bred by them. To all who have assisted them on the present occasion the publishers return their best thanks. They have also to acknowledge the receipt of a great deal of information respecting the produces of 1845 and previous years, which will be duly published in the next volume of the Stud Book. This annual list is intended to be confined to the foals of the year. BREEDER. GoT BY ABELARD. - - Mr W. Ley ACCIDENT. ALFRED. ALPHEUS. Ditto Ld Stradbroke B. f. out of Thinnima .
