Fama made the running, followed by the colt out of Czar's dam and Polka the first three quarters of a mile; Subduer then took it up, with Fama lying second, the colt out of Czar's dam and Polka next; Hawkesbury, who had been lying off in the early part of the race, went towards the front at the cords; half way up Hawkesbury and Polka left the others and ran a good race in, the former winning by half a length; Tit-bit a bad third. The winner was claimed.

Fort William made the running; half way up the cords Missed Stays went up, and after a good race, was beaten only by a head.

Cranebrook obtained the second place, about a neck in advance of Winchester, who was closely followed in by A-lamode, Boarding-school Miss, Footstool, Seven's the Main, Glory, and Ruff,
