Even betting. Mirmillo made the running, was not headed, and won cleverly by a length.

A capital start was effected at the first attempt; Giantess immediately took the lead at a moderate pace, with Plantagenet and Arthur next; Terrier, Mangler, Widred, Dulcet, c. out of Czar's dam, and several others following in close order; at the new ground Arthur retired from the front, and the others ran on as far as the dip on the T.Y.C. where several of the second rank dropped off; at the bushes Jenny Wren and Wit's-end took the running, the former with a slight lead, followed by Lightning, Jonathan Wild, Kesheng, and Hydrangea; half way up the cords Wit's-end passed Jenny Wren, and carried on the running to the end, winning cleverly by a length; Hydrangea about two lengths from Jenny Wren; Wolfdog and Kesheng next, close up, followed by Jonathan Wild, Lightning, and Dulcet.
