After the horses had passed the Winning-post, the trainer of Daw. dle claimed the race for his employer, on the ground that the horses had not run the right Course, and Dawdle was sent back to come over the proper Course alone. The case was heard by the Stewards, Mr Gratwicke and Ld George Bentinck, who decided that the Course run over by Iago was the right Course, Ld George Bentinck from the first declined to make any claim to the stakes. 5 to 4 on Iago, 5 to 2 agst c. by Hetman Platoff, and 4 to 1 agst

Mr Wreford's filly that ran in this race was Wilderness, but when entered for it as a foal, she was, by mistake, described as being by Sultan, out of Wapiti (instead of by Sultan Junior) and before starting an objection was made to her qualification by Mr Bowes, on the ground of incorrect description. The case was heard by the Stewards, after the race, who awarded the stakes to the second horse.
