2nd Row.-Turn back, a row of long stitches till within 5 stitches of the end, increase twice by making 2 long into 1 loop, then 1 long into next loop, then 2 long into next, finish with long and turn back.

As all the slipper is worked in long stitches, the repetition of the words "long stitches" will be omitted. After every increased stitch, I long to be worked into the next loop. 1

3rd Row.-Turn back, take the last 2 loops together in 1.

4th Row.-Turn back, till the end of the row, where increase as at 2nd row.

Cut off the Wool and draw the end neatly in, now make another piece exactly the same, but before cutting the Wool off the last piece, crochet the 2 corresponding points of the pieces together. After this, the Wool must be cut off at every row.

15th Row.-2 De, the 1st on 3rd long stitch, then all long till the centre, which will be where the pieces were joined, where make 3 long into 1 loop, then all long till the 5th long of last row from the end, then 2 De.

16th Row.-2 De, the 1st into the 5th loop of last row, then all long, working 3 long into the centre loop of the 3 increased stitches, then all long till the 6th loop of the last row, 2 De.

18th Row.-2 Dc, the 1st into the 36th loop from the centre long, reckoning from left to right, 34 long, increase 3 as before, 34 long, 2 Dc.

20th Row.-2 De, the 1st into the 26th loop from centre stitch in last row, 24 long, increase 3, 24 long, 2 Do.

21st Row.-Same as last row.

-

22nd Row. Begin on 1st long stitch, and work the same. 23rd Row.-2 De, the 1st into the 22nd loop from centre stitch, 20 long, increase 3, 20 long, 2 Dc.

24th Row.-2 De, the 1st into the 21st loop from centre loop, 19 long, increase 3, 19 long, 2 Dc.

26th Row.-2 De, the 1st in the 14th loop from centre stitch, 12 long, increase 3, 12 long, 2 Dc.

Work a row of De along the foot of the Slipper, working in the ends and working 3 stitches into the centre loop at the point of the Slipper.

Damp well, and press between linen under a heavy weight, then line with Cerise Silk, and sew on the inside round a Cork Sole.

For the Trimming round the Leg and Instep.

On Steel Pin cast on 15 stitches, knit 2 plain rows, observing always to slip the 1st stitch. Slip 1, knit 1, place the Needle through the next stitch, use the White and Black Wool double, place the White Wool between the points of the 2 Needles, knit off the stitch with Cotton, this will bring both Cotton and Wool on the right hand Needle; for the next stitch, bring the Wool tightly round the 2nd finger of the left hand, place it between the Needles as before, and knit it off with Cotton; now knit 1 Black stitch, 2 White, 1 Black, 2 White, 1 Black, 2 White, and 2 plain without Wool.

The next row, knit it plain back with Cotton, knitting off a Cotton and Wool stitch together, then cut the loops, comb and lightly shear each row, now knit 2 rows of White, knitting between each row plain, with Cotton only, then a row Black and White, continue this till there is sufficient to trim the Boot,

when knit 2 plain rows and cast off, now shear it evenly, and sew round the Boot, tie down the front with Cerise Ribbon.

With the addition of a Gutta Percha sole to the Cork, this will make an admirable Snow Boot.
