PATTERN FOR DARNING A NETTED BREAD CLOTH, NETTED SQUARE.

ANTI-ZEPHERINE IN CROCHET.

Take of any color 4-Thread Berlin Wool that may be liked, 6 shades, 2 skeins of the 2 darkest, 1 of the 3rd shade, and 3 of the 3 lightest shades, and 1 skein of White. De means Double Crochet.

1st Row.-Commence with darkest shade, on a foundation of 120 stitches and work a row of D. This Cap must not be turned.

2nd Row. Same shade Wool, 1 long, 1 chain, miss 1 loop, repeat.

3rd Row. Next shade, commence on 1st long stitch in last row, work 3 chain, 3 long into 4th loop,* 1 chain, 3 long into 4th loop, repeat from till the end, where make 3 chain, D° on last long stitch.

4th Row. Next shade, commence on 1st long stitch in last row, 3 chain,* 3 long into the 1 chain between the long stitches in last row, 1 chain, repeat from* till the end of the row, end with 3 chain, D on last long stitch.

Join on every shade in succession, work exactly as in 4th row beginning and ending every row the same, then add 1 row of White, crochet the ends in D, then with the darkest of the 3 lightest shades work the Border, work 6 chain, and De into every 4th loop, repeat, D° into every 2nd loop at each of the corners. Take the next shade, De under the centre of the 6 chain, 6 chain, repeat. Make 6 chain, and D' twice into the chain of 6 at the corners. Lightest shade, D under the 6 chain, 7 chain, repeat.

Make a chain of 30 stitches with either of the shades of Wool that may be left. 3 long into 1 loop,* 1 chain, 3 long
