For a pair of Shoes an oz. of White Shetland Wool; 8 skeins of Pink 4-Thread Berlin Wool. 2 Hooks-1 Guaging, No. 20, this is used for the Shetland Wool; 1, No. 17, for the Berlin Wool. This Shoe is to be worked tightly. 1st Row.-Commence with Pink Wool for the foot which must be worked forwards and back, turning at the end of every row throughout, keeping the joins always on one side. Make a chain of 36 loops, turn and De to the end of the row, where make 1 chain. 2nd Row.-Turn, De to the end where make 3 chain, continue these 2 rows alternately till the 7th row; The 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th rows, D° without making any chain at the end. 14th Row.-D 16 stitches only, the next 13 rows the same as the 14th. 28th Row.-D to the end of the 16 De stitches, and make 33 additional loops. 29th Row.-Turn and De to the end. The next 5 rows the same as the last. 35th Row-Turn, and De to within 3 stitches of the end. 36th Row.-De to within 1 stitch of the end. 37th Row.-D on 2nd D in last row, and continue to within 3 stitches of the end. 38th Row.-D to within 1 stitch. 39th Row.-D on 2nd D in last row, and De to within 3 stitches. 40th Row.-D to within 1 stitch, draw the Wool through the stitch to fasten off, there should now be 36 stitches, the same as commenced with.
