payable, fhall be answered and paid to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors for the aforefaid term of Five years, by the re- Manner of fpective Heirs, Executors or Adminiftrators of every fuch perfon Levying. fo Buried, as aforefaid, before any other Debts or Duties whatfoever; And in default of payment thereof to the Collectors of the faid Duty upon Demand, the same shall be Charged upon, and Levied by distress upon the Lands, Tenements and Hereditaments, or the Goods and Chattles of the perfons fo Buried, in such manner as herein after is directed; and the respective Duties hereby Charged upon the Burial of any perfon, who shall at the time of his or her death, be under the age of one and twenty years, fhall be answered and paid by the Father of such person (if living at the time of the death of fuch perfon under age) and if the Father be then dead, by the mother, if The be then living, or otherwife, by the Guardian, Trustee, Executor or Adminiftrator of fuch perfon; and the Duty charged upon the Burial of any Wife, fhall be paid by the Husband of fuch Wife.

V. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that Duties upon from and after the said first day of May, for, and during the term Births for Fivé of five years and no longer, there shall be raised, levied and paid to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, for, and upon the Birth of every perfon (except as herein after is excepted) who fhall be Born within the faid term of five years, at any place within the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, the feveral and respective Duties and fums of Money herein after mentioned (that is to fay ;)

VI. For, and upon the Birth of every perfon and Child (ex- Particulars. cept the Child or Children of fuch as receive Alms) the fum of Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldest Son of every perfon of the degree of a Duke of England, Scotland, or Ireland, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his death, the fum of Thirty pounds over and above the faid Two Shillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every other Son or Daughter of fuch Duke, or of his Wife by any other Hufband after his death, the fum of Five and twenty pounds, over and above the said Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldest Son of every person of the degree of a Marquess of any of the faid three Kingdoms, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his death, the fum of Five and twenty pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every other Son or Daughter of fuch Marquefs, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his death, the sum of Twenty pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldeft Son of every person of the degree of an Earl, of any of the faid three Kingdoms, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his death, the fum of Twenty pounds, over and above the faid two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every other Son and Daughter of fuch Earl, or of his Wife by any other Hufband after his death, the fum of Fifteen pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of the eldest Son of every

perfon of the degree of a Vicount of any of the faid three King doms, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his Death, the fum of Seventeen pounds ten fhillings, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every other Son or Daughter of fuch Vicount or of his Wife by any other Husband after his death, the fum of thirteen pounds fix fhillings and eight pence, over and above the faid Two Shillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldeft Son of every perfon of the degree of a Baron of any of the faid three Kingdoms, or of his Wife by any other Husband after his Death, the sum of Fifteen pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every other Son or Daughter of fuch Baron, or of his Wife by any other Hufband after his death, the fum of Twelve pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldest Son of every perfon of the degree of a Baronet, Knight of the Order of the Bath, or Knight Batchelor, the fum of Five pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every eldeft Son of a Serjeant at Law, Ef quire or Gentleman, the fum of Twenty fhillings, over and above the faid two fhillings; And for and upon the Birth of every younger Son or Daughter of Baronets, Knights of the Bath, Knights Batchelors, Serjeants at Law, Efquires or Gentlemen, or fo reputed, or owning or writing themfelves as fuch, the fum of twenty fhillings, over and above the faid two shillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every Son or Daughter of an Arch-bishop, Bishop, Dean, Arch-Deacon, Canon, Prebendary, Doctor of Divinity, Law or Phyfick, the sum of twenty fhillings, over and above the faid two fhillings; And for, and upon the Birth of every Son or Daughter of every perfon having a real Eftate of the Value of Fifty pounds per Annum or upwards, or a perfonal Eftate of the Value of Six hundred pounds or upwards, and not hereby otherwife charged under any of the Ranks, Orders, Qualifications or Degrees herein before mentioned, the fum of Ten fhillings, over and above the faid two fhillings.

VII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that the said several and respective fums of money, fo impofed, as aforefaid, for and upon the Birth or Births of any Child or Children within the Kingdom, or the Dominion, or Town aforefaid, fhall be Charged upon, and Anfwered and paid to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors for the aforefaid term of five years, by the Father, if living at the time of the Birth of any fuch Child or Children, and if he fhall be dead at the time of fuch Birth, by the Mother of fuch Child or Children, fo born; And in cafe of the death of fuch Father and Mother at the time of the Birth, by fuch perfon or perfons who fhall take upon him, her, or them, the Guardianship or Care of fuch Child or Children fo born, to be reimbursed again in the first place, out of the real or perfonal Eftate of fuch Child or Children fo born, (if any) to be Levied in fuch manner as is herein after directed.

Sum of Five pounds, over and above the faid Two fhillings, and Six pence; And for and upon the Marriage of every Son of an Arch-Bishop, Bishop, Dean, Arch-Deacon, Canon, Prebendary, Doctor of Divinity, Law or Phyfick, the Sum of Twenty fhillings, over and above the faid Two fhillings and Six pence; And for, and upon the Marriage of every perfon having a Real Estate of the Value of Fifty pounds per Annum,

or upwards or a perfonal Estate of the Value of Six hundred
pounds or upwards, and not otherwife hereby Charged under
the feveral Dignities, Ranks, Orders, Qualifications or Degrees
herein before mentioned, the Sum of Twenty fhillings, over
and above the faid Two fhillings and Six pence; And for, and
upon the Marriage of every Son of every such person or per-
fons having fuch real or perfonal Eftate, as aforefaid, the Sum of
Ten fhillings over and above the faid Two fhillings and Six pence.
X. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid,
That the feveral and respective Duties and fums of money
be raised and paid by Marriages, as aforefaid as the fame fhall
feverally become due and payable, fhall be charged upon, and
answered, and paid to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, for
the aforefaid term of Five years, by the husband upon demand.
XI. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid,
That every perfon Inhabiting and Refiding, or which fhall In-
habit or Refide in the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales
or Town of Berwick upon Tweed, being a Batchelor above the
Age of Five and twenty years (except fuch as receive Alms)
fhall from and after the faid First day of May, during the faid
Term of Five years, or fo long time thereof as he thall conti-
nue a Batchelor, and no longer, pay to his Majefty, his Heirs
and Succeffors, the Sum of one fhilling yearly.

XII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, Duty upon That every person inhabiting and refiding, or which fhall In- Batchelors, habit and refide in the Kingdom of England, dominion of Wales, and Widowers and outcom without chiland Town of Berwick upon Tweed, being a Widower, and havdren for 5 ing no Child or Children (except fuch as receive Alms) fhall from and after the faid First day of May, during the faid term of Five years, or fo long time thereof as he shall continue a Widower, and no longer, pay unto his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, the fun of one fhilling yearly.

And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid First day of May, all and every perfon and perfons of the feveral Orders, Ranks, Degrees and Qualifications herein after mentioned, inhabiting and refiding, or which shall happen to inhabit and refide in the Kingdom of England, Dominion of Wales, and Town of Berwick upon Tweed, being Batchelors above the Age of Five and twenty years, or Widowers without any Child or Children, fhall pay to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors yearly, during the faid term of Five years, or for so long time thereof as they thall continue Unmarried and no longer, the feveral and refpective duties and fums of Money herein after mentioned, over and above the faid yearly fum of One fhilling, (that is to fay;) Every perfon of Particulars. the degree of a Duke of England, Scotland or Ireland, the yearly fum of Twelve pounds and Ten fhillings; and every person of the degree of a Marquefs of any of the faid three Kingdoms, the yearly fum of Ten pounds; every person of the degree of an Earl of any of the faid three Kingdoms, the yearly fum of Seven pounds and ten fhillings; every perfon of the degree of a Vicount of any of the faid three Kingdoms, the yearly fun VOL.
