DISTRICT OF MASSACHUSETTS, TO WIT.

BE it remembered, that on the fourteenth day of October, A. D. 1805,

in the thirtieth year of the Independence of the United States of America, ABIEL HOLMES, of said district, has deposited in this office, the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as author, in the words following, to wit: "AMERICAN " ANNALS; or a Chronological HISTORY OF AMERICA from its discovery "in 1492 to 1806, in two volumes By ARIEL HOLMES, D.D. A.A.S S.H.S. "Minister of the First Church in Cambridge. -Suum quæque in annum re"ferre-Tacit. Annal. Vol. I, comprising a period of two hundred years."

In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, intitled, “An "Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, "and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times there"in mentioned :" and also to an Act intitled, " An Act supplementary to an Act “intitled, An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of "maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during "the times therein mentioned; and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical and other prints.”
