From all evil,

From his sins,

From unholy thoughts,

From the snares of the devil,
From Thy dreadful wrath,
By Thy holy Incarnation,
By Thine Advent,

By Thy Cross and Passion,
By Thy glorious Resurrection,
By Thy wonderful Ascension,
By the HOLY GHOST, the Comforter,
In the hour of his departure,

O Lord, deliver him.

We sinners do beseech Thee to hear us. And that it may please Thee to give him fruitful and saving penitence, That it may please Thee to give him a humble and contrite heart; That it may please Thee to give

the grace of tears;

That it may please Thee to give perfect faith, hope, and love;

That Thou wouldest take away from him all murmuring and impatience; That it may please Thee to pardon all his sins;

That it may please Thee to increase in him Thy grace ;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord.

That it may please Thee to give him eternal life ;

We beseech Thee to hear us, O Lord. That he may finish the work which Thou gavest him to do;

That he may have a portion and fellowship in all the mysteries, prayers, fastings, groans, vigils, tears, and sufferings of Thy holy Church;

That he may have a firm persuasion of the remission of his sins; That he may have a confident hope of resurrection and translation to heaven;

That he may accept his sickness from Thy hands, and entirely resign himself to Thy blessed will;

That he may patiently submit to all his pains and weariness;

That he may offer up all his sufferings to be united to the sufferings of our Holy Redeemer ;

That he may praise Thee in illness, as well as in health;

That he may join his heart and voice with the whole Church of heaven and earth in blessing Thee for ever;

That he may be thoroughly sanctified by the HOLY SPIRIT ;

Grant this, O Lord.

O Lamb of GOD, Who takest away the sins of the world, be Thou to this Thy servant, a powerful Redeemer and Advocate with the FATHER:

O sweet JESUS! receive him into Thy arms: hide him in Thy wounds: bathe his soul in Thy precious blood:

Let Thy Passion and Death stand between his soul and Thy justice:

O Refuge of distressed souls, let this soul experience the multitude of Thy comforts in the midst of his sor

rows:

Be mindful of Thy poor creature whom Thou hast redeemed, and let not Thy precious blood be shed for him in vain :

O JESUS, Jesus, Who hast promised to save all that call upon Thy Name with faith and confidence, we now call upon Thy holy Name, O JESUS! with all our hearts; and supplicate Thee to have mercy on this Thy servant's soul, and to save it :

O LORD JESUS, we beseech Thee by Thy sufferings on the Cross, to have pity on this soul at the time of its pangs and conflict:

Hear us, O Christ.

Call him to Thyself, O SAVIOUR of sinners, and receive him into the number of Thine elect, that he may praise Thee eternally :

Sweet JESUS! receive his soul:

ALMIGHTY and everlasting GOD, in Whose hands are the keys of life and death, and Whose infinite wisdom disposes all things for the best unto them that love Thee; look, we beseech Thee, on Thy servant, whom Thou hast cast upon the bed of sickness, and support with Thy grace his afflicted spirit; strengthen his faith, increase his hope, and perfect his charity; and if it shall please Thee to call him to Thyself, grant that he may pass through the valley of the shadow of death with safety, and be carried by Thy holy angels into the mansions of bliss, where no fear shall trouble him, nor any grief disturb him; but where perfect security, pure delights, and unspeakable

joys shall be bestowed upon him; through our LORD JESUS CHRIST, Thine only Son ; Who, with Thee, and the HOLY GHOST, ever liveth and reigneth, one GOD, world without end. Amen.

May the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, and the love of GOD, and the fellowship of the HOLY GHOST, be with us all now and for evermore. Amen.
