SOUTHAMPTON.-The Course, situate on Southampton Common, about a mile from the centre of the town, is an irregular oval, one mile and a half and 100 yards round, with a slight dip near the starting-post, and a considerable rise at the finish. The T.Y.C. is a straight run in of about five furlongs from the bottom turn, which is very easy, and the only one used.

STAFFORD.-Is an egg-shaped Course, nearly one mile and a quarter in circumference, about half a mile from the town. The T.Y.C. is nearly half a mile, straight.

STOCKBRIDGE-Is nearly a round Course, somewhat hilly, the last three-quarters of a mile straight for the run in; and there is also a straight mile. The T.Y.C. is three

quarters of a mile; the Bush in, about five furlongs.

STOCKTON.-The Course is about a quarter of a mile from the town, on Mandale Bottoms; it is perfectly level, oblong in shape, the turf peaty and excellent, and one mile and 6 furlongs and 110 yards in length. The T.Y.C. is 6 furlongs, and nearly straight.

STREATHAM.-Is a circular Course of rather more than a mile round. There is a straight run in of five furlongs, finishing up a very severe hill.

SUTTON PARK.-The Course is six miles from Birmingham and one mile and a half from Sutton Coldfield Railway Station. The straight Course is over six furlongs, and nearly flat. For the two-mile Course, the horses start at the six furlongs post and go once round, running the figure of 6.

TENBURY-IS about a mile and a quarter, with a little descent to the far side, then a gradual rise to the length, which is over 500 yards, straight and flat. The T.Y.C. is the last half-mile.

TENBY-The Course is situate about half a mile from the town, is a dead flat and one mile round.

THIRSK.-The main body of the Old Course is oval and flat, being about one mile, one furlong, and 40 yards in length. The turns are easy and the ground well levelled all round. The New Straight Six-furlongs Course joins the round, or Oval Old Course at the last turn, and has the excellent width of 60 yards at the starting line. The T.Y.C. of 4 furlongs and 130 yards, and the New Five-furlongs Course are portions of the New Straight Six-furlongs Course, and being formed over fine old grass land, the going is good in all weather.

TIVERTON.-Is a circle, seven furlongs round, quite flat, with a nearly straight run in of a quarter of a mile. The Course is half a mile from the town.

TOTNES-IS an oval, three-quarters of a mile round, quite flat, with a straight run in of a quarter of a mile.

TUNBRIDGE-Is a circular Course, a dead flat and somewhat under a mile in circumference.

WALSALL.-The Course is close to the town, and is oval, one mile less 20 yards. In the first part there is a stiff hill of about 300 yards, and about the same distance at the top is quite flat, after which it gently declines, with a straight run in, quite flat, for about five furlongs.

WARWICK-Is nearly circular, and the distance once round is one mile, six furlongs, and 60 yards. There is a strong hill about half a mile from the Starting-post. The Leamington Stakes Course is two miles and 44 yards. The T.Y.C. is three-quarters of a mile. The Queen's Plate Course is two miles. The "straight run in" is about three furlongs and a half. WENLOCK.-The Course is an oval, about 100 yards short of a mile round, with a straight run in of 500 yards; after passing the Winning-chair there is a down-hill turn, then flat along the bottom, with an up-hill turn home.

WEST DRAYTON.-The Course is in the meadows close to the Great Western Railway Station and the village; it is perfectly flat, oval in shape, and rather more than six furlongs round. The T.Y.C. is the half of the oval, with a quarter of a mile of nearly straight run in. The going is good in the driest seasons.

WEYMOUTH-Is a round Course of one mile, quite flat, and excellent running ground, with a straight run in of nearly half a mile. The T.Y.C. is a straight half-mile. It is situate on Lodmoor, half a mile from the town. The Queen's Plate Course is two miles.

WHITEHAVEN-Is an oblong Course, a few yards short of a mile, with a straight run in of about 500 yards.

WINCHESTER-The Course is two miles round, starting at the Winning chair. There is a straight run in of about half a mile, the first part of which is a strong hill; the T.Y.C. is about five furlongs, the first part of which is a strong hill. The Queen's Plate Course is two miles.

WINDSOR IS a flat Course of about 160 acres, one mile from Windsor Castle. For the Two-mile Course the horses start opposite the Stand and run a figure of 6, as at Worcster, the last three-quarters of a mile being quite straight.

WOLVERHAMPTON.-The Course is of an oval shape, a mile and a quarter, the run in is straight.

WORCESTER-Is a dead flat, and of irregular shape. The Half-mile Course and the Five furlongs Course are straight. The Mile-and-quarter Course is a figure of 6, the first and last half-mile being straight. The Two-mile Course is a figure of 8, the last half-mile straight; the T.Y.C. is the straight half-mile.

WYE-Is in shape like a Battledore, one mile and threequarters, with six furlongs quite straight, the first two furlongs of which is down hill, the third furlong up hill, the fourth down, and the last two up hill to the finish-all excellent Down land, and a mile from the town.

YARMOUTH.-The Course once round is one mile, two furlongs, and 200 yards, perfectly level, and on a sandy soil. The T.Y.C. is 5 furlongs, 80 yards, straight. The other Courses are portions of the whole round.

YORK.-The Race Course is about a mile from the city, on a plain called Knavesmire; it is quite flat, rather oval in shape, and about two miles in length. The T.Y.C. is 5 furlongs and 44 yards. The Great Yorkshire Stakes Course is one mile and three-quarters, and is run over the New Course. The Old and New Two-mile Courses are exactly two miles. The Queen's Plate Course is two miles, and is also run over the New Course.
