corrupt practices upon the turf, and no jockey who has been suspended from riding for a similar reason, shall be permitted to enter the Stands, Enclosures, Saddling Paddocks, or Weighing Rooms, at any meeting which is held under the Rules of Racing, as established by the Jockey Club at Newmarket, so long as the sentence against them remains in force."

Rule 28 of the Jockey Club Rules.—To omit the mode of application of money received from the 1 per cent. on stakes.

Ld Falmouth then, as Senior Steward, presented the accounts for the year ending December 31st, 1874, which he had audited and signed, and, on retiring, named Sir John D. Astley, Bart., as his successor, which was unanimously agreed to.

A General Meeting was held at Newmarket on Wednesday in the First Spring Meeting (April 28th).

Viscount Dupplin was elected a Member of the Club.

The Stewards then moved the alteration of Rule 60, adjourned from last meeting.

To insert after the second line: The horse shall not leave the place of sale until the auctioneer is satisfied as to the purchase money; and if he be not satisfied within a quarter of an hour, he shall have the power of putting the horse up to auction again.

After some discussion the meeting divided, when the motion was carried by a large majority.

A General Meeting was held at Newmarket on Wednesday in the Second Spring Meeting (May 12th).

Mr Chaplin stated that the Stewards proposed to withdraw, for the present, the motion of which they had given notice on the subject of claiming before the race in selling races, and to bring it forward in an amended form in the October Meeting.

The Stewards then submitted to the meeting the estimates for a New Stand on the R.M., plans of which were exhibited, and proposed to take the sense of the meetingfirst, as to whether the Club wished a New Stand built, and, secondly, whether the details should be left in the hands of the Stewards.

The Duke of St Albans moved, that the consideration of the matter should be left till a fuller meeting in October.

Colonel Forester seconded the motion.

After a short discussion the question was put, whether the meeting desired the Stand to be built or not. There appeared

It was therefore resolved that a New Stand be built in the place of the present R.M. Stand.

Mr Payne moved, that it be left to the Stewards to decide all matters connected with the building.

The Duke of St Albans seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.

A General Meeting was held at Newmarket on Wednesday in the July Meeting (July 7th.)

The Earl of Zetland and the Hon. H. W. Fitzwilliam were elected members of the Club.

The Stewards then brought forward the motions of which they had given notice, viz.:

To alter in Rule 17 the words, "he shall not be allowed to start,” to “shall be disqualified,”

which was carried unanimously.

To transfer Rule 24 of the Jockey Club to the Rules of Racing, altering it to read as follows

If any person shall be detected watching a trial, or shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Stewards of the Jockey Club to have employed any person to watch a trial, or to have obtained surreptitiously information respecting a trial from any person or persons engaged in it, or in the service of the trainer of the horses tried, he shall be deemed to have been guilty of a corrupt practice on the Turf, and shall be warned off Newmarket Heath, and all race courses where the Newmarket Rules are in force.

To add to Rule 64

When any race is in dispute both the horse that came in first and any horse claiming the race shall be liable to all the penalties attaching to the winner of that race till the matter is decided.

Carried unanimously.

After some discussion, this was carried unanimously.

A General Meeting was held at Newmarket on Wednesday in the First October Meeting (September 29th).

The Hon. C. W. Fitzwilliam and the Earl of Aylesford were elected Members of the Club.

A General Meeting was held at Newmarket on Wednesday in the Second October Meeting (October 13th).

On the motion of the Stewards, the Right Hon. Sir S. Martin was elected an Honorary Member of the Club.

The Stewards then announced that they intended sending a letter of thanks to those of the breeders who had contributed the added money to the Middle Park Plate this year; but, now that the funds of the Club admitted of it, they proposed to renew the race for next year, giving 500l. added money.

The Stewards submitted the following as the fixtures for the Newmarket Meetings next year—

The Stewards then moved the following resolution, of which notice had been given, viz.

"That it is expedient that the Jockey Club should take into consideration the Rules of Racing and of the Jockey Club, with a view to their re-arrangement and revision," and explained that they proposed to have this done during the winter, and submitted to the Club at one of their earliest meetings next year.

On the motion of Mr Payne, seconded by Ld Lonsdale, it was unanimously agreed to leave the matter in the hands of the Stewards.
