CHAPTER 1.

AN ACT to amend section 95, of the revised statutes, relating to electors of president and vicepresident.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 95, of the revised statutes of Amending sec. Wisconsin for the year 1878, is hereby amended by striking out the words, "first Wednesday in December," in the second line thereof, and inserting the words, "second Monday in January," so that said section when amended shall read as follows: Section 95. The electors of president and vice-president shall convene at the capitol of this Presidential state on the second Monday in January next after to meet. their election, at the hour of twelve o'clock, noon, of that day, and if there shall be any vacancy in the office of an elector, occasioned by death, refusal to act, neglect to attend, or other cause, the electors present shall immediately proceed to fill by ballot, and by plurality of votes such vacancy in the electoral college, and when all the electors shail appear, or the vacancies shall have been filled as above provided, they shall proceed to perform the duties required of such electors by the constitution and laws of the United States.

Section 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved January 10, 1889.
