Senate bill No. 530 (file No. 173), entitled

A bill to amend sections 1 and 2 of act No. 205 of the public acts of 1897, entitled "An act to prefer ex-soldiers for public employment." Have made no amendments thereto, and have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, and recommend its passage. The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

House bill No. 177 (file No. 129), entitled

A bill to provide relief outside of the Soldiers' Home for honorably discharged indigent soldiers, sailors and marines, and the indigent wives, widows and minor children of such indigent or deceased soldiers, sailors marines, and to repeal act No. 193 of the public acts of 1889, as amended by act No. 2 of the public acts of 1893, and act No. 253 of the public acts of 1895.

Have directed their chairman to report the same back to the Senate, with the recommendation that the bill be referred to the committee on Military Affairs.

The committee of the whole have also had under consideration the following:

Senate bill No. 460 (file No. 121), entitled

A bill for the exemption of all homesteads actually used as such, from taxation, to the amount of $500.

Have made sundry amendments thereto, but not having completed the consideration thereof, ask leave to sit again.
