Each subscriber to name two mares, and to bring the produce of one to the post, but not to be restricted to bring the same in each year, and to be allowed to run both in either year, on pay ment on each occasion of an extra half stake. CATTERICK BRIDGE, 1847, To take place on Tuesday and Wednesday the 13th and 14th days of April (being the week after the Newmarket Craven Meeting.) RULES AND REGULATIONS. The Stewards and Committee of Catterick Bridge Races give notice that no person notoriously in default in respect to stakes, forfeits, or bets upon horse-racing, will be admitted within the Stand or its enclosure, during any meeting at Catterick Bridge; and if any such person should gain admittance, he will be expelled therefrom upon his presence being pointed out to the Stewards, or the Clerk of the Course, unless he can produce satisfactory proof that he is no longer a defaulter in respect to stakes, forfeits, or bets upon horse-racing. No person in arrear of stakes or forfeits due on races at Catterick Bridge or elsewhere, and no person being notoriously a defaulter in respect to bets lost upon horse-racing, will be permitted to name, enter, or run, either in his own name or in that of any other person, any horse of which he is either in whole or in part owner, for any plate, cup, match, or sweepstakes at any meeting there; and in order to prevent persons who are defaulters in regard to stakes, forfeits, or bets upon horse-racing, from evading this regulation, the Stewards, whenever there shall be reason to suspect that an evasion of this rule is intended, will call upon the nominator to produce satisfactory testimony that the horse named is not the property, in whole or in part, of any person in default in respect to stakes, forfeits, or bets upon horse-racing; and if the nominator shall refuse, or fail to produce, such satisfactory testimony, the Stewards shall cause the nomination to be erased. 1. Each winner to subscribe 2gs, and each jockey I sov. per annum, or 5s. for each race he rides, for the use of scales and weighing room. Trainers to declare the colours at the place and time of entry or by letter, or forfeit 10s. the same forfeit to be inflicted upon the owner for having his horse ridden in a different colour to the one given in. All horses exercised on the ground previous to the races to pay 5s. 2. The horses will be numbered on the official card and sheet lists, and as soon as each jockey is weighed, his number will be exhibited to the public; and the Stewards will not only reprobate in the strongest manner the conduct of any person causing his jockey to weigh and afterwards withdrawing him from the race, but will fine the person thus offending, whether trainer or owner, 2 sov. and will not allow any horse belonging to the same party to start for any other race at Catterick Bridge, until such fine be paid. 3. The races will be run each day in the order in which they are put upon the cards and lists of the day, without any alteration. 4. The hour for starting for each race will be printed on the cards and lists of each day. The bell for saddling for each race will ring a quarter of an hour before the time appointed for starting, at which time the race will be run without waiting for such horses as are not ready, except in the case of some unforeseen accident, when the express consent of the Stewards will be required for the delay. 5. Weather permitting, of which the Stewards present will be the |
