This Hospital was organized to meet the urgent demands of the City of Wilmington and the County of New Hanover. It is under the management of a Committee from the County Commissioners and Board of Aldermen, Col. Roger Moore, Chairman of the Joint Committee.

Eight new wards have been added to the building for private patients, and the Hospital is now opened for the reception of those who need special surgical and medical service, affording to the counties around Wilmington as good advantages as can be obtained elsewhere, and at moderate expense.
