Section 9. That the policemen, elevator tenders, and janitors shall be assigned to their respective duties by the custodian; the clerks in the document room by the Secretary of State: the clerk in the supply department by the Secretary of the Executive Council; the assistant bill and file clerks by the secretary of the Senate: and the mail carriers by the president of the Senate and speaker of the Honse.

Section 10. That the custodian is hereby authorized and directed to detail not more than two of the janitors for work in the rooms of the Hall of History, as may be required by the Curator during the session of the General Assembly.

Section 11. That the secretary of the Senate and the chief clerk of the House are hereby directed to prepare a pay roll of said employees, the same to be countersigned by the President of the Senate and Speaker o the House, and presented to the Auditor of State.

Section 12. That the custodian is hereby authorized to employ such additional help as may be necessary to remove snow from the approaches porticos and walks about the Capitol.

Section 13. That the secretary of state is hereby authorized to retain as many clerks, hereby appointed, to serve in the document room as he may deem necessary, for a period of time not exceeding two weeks after the adjournment of the Thirty-first General Assembly.

Senator Smith of Mitchell moved that the rules be supended and that the joint resolution be read a third time now, which motion prevailed and the joint resolution was read a third time.

On the question: shall the joint resolution pass?

HOUSE MESSAGES CONSIDERED

House concurrent resolution relative to printing fifteen thousand extra copies of the Iowa Official Register.

By unanimous consent the concurrent resolution was taken up and considered.

Senator Lambert moved that the Senate concur in the concurrent resolution.

Carried.
