On motion of Mr. McMahon, it was

Resolved, That the rules of the last House of Representatives be and the same are hereby adopted as the rules of this House, until otherwise ordered.

On motion of Mr. McMahon,

Resolved, That the Clerk of the House be and he is hereby instructed to furnish to each member of the House a copy of the manual of the last House.

On motion of Mr. McMahon,

The Speaker pro tem. announced that Henry A. Shaw had received a majority of all the votes cast, and declared him duly elected to the office of Speaker.

Charles V. DeLand, of Jackson county, having received a majority of all the votes cast, was declared duly elected Chief Clerk of the House.

On motion of Mr. Perry,

The House proceeded to the election of an Enrolling and Engrossing Clerk, as follows:

of all the votes cast, was declared duly elected to the office of Enroll

ing and Engrossing Clerk.

On motion of Mr. Childs,

The House proceeded to the election of Sergeant-at-Arms, with the following result:

Charles Larzalere, of Lenawee county, having received a majority of all the votes cast, was declared duly elected to the office of Sergeantat-Arms.

On motion of Mr. Monroe,
