"The Second Class, Junior Department, numbers 27 scholars, including some upwards of 20 years of age.

"The Third Class, Junior Department and First Division of the Fourth Class, number each 24 students. The second, third, fourth and fifth divisions of the latter number 16, 15, 22 and 28, respectively.

"The Prize of Rs. 20 for translation from and into the Vernacular offered to this class for competition, was withheld as the translations given in were unsatisfactory.

Senior Department, Third Class.

"The recent examinations and the great increase in and general conduct of the School are most creditable to the Masters. Mr. Twentyman and Mr. Lawler, who were selected by the Council of Education to re-organize the School have exerted themselves to the utmost and most successfully; the popularity of the School has spread so greatly that at present there are 49 scholars in the Branch School in addition to 173 in the original School.

"With a view to meet the increased demand for an English education, a meeting of Native Gentlemen was held at the Judge's Court in January, at which it was resolved to solicit Government to establish a Branch School in the City, the requisite building being raised by subscription. Upwards of 4,000 Rupees has been subscribed and Government has sanctioned the appointment of an English and a Persian Master.
