In

pursuance of law the Senate of the Twelfth General Assembly convened at 2 o'clock P. M., and was called to order by LieutenantGovernor Gue.

At the request of the President, Rev. W. W. King invoked the Divine blessing.

On motion of Senator Parvin, George P. Abel, of Polk county, was elected Secretary pro tem.

The roll was called of the senators holding over, and the following senators were present :
