The remonstrance of sundry inhabitants of the village of New. burgh, against the passage of an act authorising the trustees of said village to grant licenses to grocers to sell spirituous liquors to be drunk in their shops, was read, and referred to the committee on the judiciary. The petition of sundry inhabitants of the county of Erie, praying for the incorporation of a company to construct a rail-road from the city of Buffalo to Springville, was read, and referred to the committee on rail-roads. Mr. King, from the committee on public lands, to which was referred the petition of John Ridden and Catharine his wife, praying for a release by the State of a certain lot of land in the city of New-York, together with the report of the Commissioners of the Land-Office thercon, reported a bill, entitled "An act for the relief of Jacob Cram;" which was read thc first time, and by unanimous consent was also read a second time. Thereupon, Mr. King made a motion that the House should agree to order the said bill to be engrossed.
