EPH.III. 1-10.

For this cause I Paul, a the prisoner | heirs, b and of the same body, c and parof Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, takers of his promise in Christ by the Gospel :

a And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself, with a soldier that kept him, Acts xxviii. 16.

b And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution ? then is the offence of the cross ceased, Gal. v. 11.

a And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

a For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a 'babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who, by reason of use, have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil, Heb. v. 12-14.

VER. 13.

means, as the serpent beguiled Eve should be corrupted from the simplithrough his subtilty, so your minds city that is in Christ, 2 Cor. xi. 3. And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him ; Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil Till we all come in the unity of you through philosophy and vain dethe faith, and of the knowledge of the ceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not Son of God, bunto a perfect man, unto after Christ, Col. ii. 4-8. Be not the measure of the t stature of the full-carried about with divers and strange ness of Christ:

̓Αληθεύοντες δὲ ἐν ἀγάπη, αὐξήσωμεν εἰς αὐτὸν τὰ πάντα, ὅς ἐστιν ἡ κεφαλὴ, ὁ Χριστός

a But speaking the truth in love, may bgrow up into him in all things, e which is the head, even Christ: *Or, being sincere.

Ἵνα μηκέτι ὦμεν νήπιοι, κλυδωνιζόμενοι καὶ περιφερόμενοι απαντὶ ἀνέμῳ τῆς διδασκαλίας, ἐν τῇ κυβείᾳ τῶν ἀνθρώπων, ἐν πανουργία πρὸς τὴν μεθοδείαν τῆς πλάνης"

a That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, band carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and for that blessed hope, and the glorious godly, in this present world; Looking appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works, Tit. ii. 11-14. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you: and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him, 1 John ii. 27.

VER. 21.
