5 Thy glorious deeds of ancient datė, Shall through the world be known; With public splendour shown. Thy saints are ruld by love ; Though rocks and hills remove. GOODNESS. 331. The Goodness of God. (C. M.) 1 SWEET is the memory of thy grace, My God, my heav'nly King; In sounds of glory sing. His goodness to the skies; And every want supplies. On thee for daily food ; . And fills their mouths with good. How slow thine anger moves! To cheer the souls he loves. 5 Creatures, with all their endless race, Thy power and praise proclaim ; Delight to bless thy name. 332. Love of God. (C.M.) 1 MYOME, ye that know and fear the Lord, And raise your souls above; And all his mercies prove; To show that God is love ! To those who from him roye;- To teach them God is love. ..And Jesus faithful proves ;- Proclaiming, God is love. No fears of hell can move; That tells you, God is love. Surround the throne above; To sing, that God is love. 7 0 may we all, while here below, This best of blessings prove; ETERNITY. 133. God's Eternity. (C. M.) PISE, rise, my soul, and leave the ground, To praise th' eternal God. Jehovah fil’d his throne; The Maker liv'd alone. But still maintain their prime; And EVER is his time. 4 While like a tide our minutes flow, The present and the past, And sees our ages waste. 5 The sea and sky must perish too, And vast destruction come ! And wait their fiery doom. 6 Well, let the sea shrink all away, And flame melt down the skies, When th' old creation dies. 334. The same. (C. M.) U What worthless worms are we ! And pay their praise to thee. 'Ere seas or stars were made; Were all the nations dead. To tbine immense survey, To the great burning day. 4 Eternity, with all its years, Stands present in thy view; Great God! there's nothing new. 5 Our lives through various scenes are draw And vex'd with trifling cares, Thine undisturb’d affairs. , What worthless worms are we ! And pay their praise to thee. THE WORKS OF GOD. Creation. (L. M.) THE heav'ns declare thy glory, Lord, 1 In ev'ry star thy wisdom shines ; But when our eyes behold thy word, We read thy name in fairer lines. The rolling sun, the changing light, And nights and days thy pow'r confess; But the blest volume thou hast writ, Reveals thy justice and thy grace. San, moon, and stars, convey thy praise, Round the whole earth, and never stand ; So when thy truth began its race, It touch'd, and glanc'd on ev'ry land. Nor shall thy spreading gospel rest, 'Till through the world thy truth has run ; "Till Christ has all the nations blest, That see the light, or feel the sun. Great Sun of Righteousness, arise, Bless the dark world with heav'nly light; Thy gospel makes the simple wise, Thy laws are pure, thy judgments right. Thy noblest wonders here we view, In souls renew'd, and sins forgiv'n; Lord, cleanse my sins, my soul renew, And make thy word my guide to heav'n. |
