3 Let the whole earth his love proclaim, With all her diff'rent tongues; And spread the honours of his name In melody and songs.
7. A holy God worshipped with Reverence. (C. M.)
EXALT the Lord our God,
And worship at his feet;
His nature is all holiness,
And mercy is his seat.
2 When Israel was his church, When Aaron was his priest, When Moses cry'd, when Samuel pray'd, He gave his people rest.
Oft he forgave their sins,
Nor would destroy their race; And oft he made his vengeance known, When they abused his grace.
4 Exalt the Lord our God, Whose grace is still the same; Still he's a God of holiness, And jealous for his name.
EFORE Jehovah's awful throne, Ye nations, bow with sacred joy ; Know that the Lord is God alone; He can create, and he destroy.
2 His sov'reign power, without our aid, Made us of clay, and form'd us men; And when, like wand'ring sheep, we stray'd, He brought us to his fold again.
3 We'll crowd thy gates with thankful songs High as the heav'ns our voices raise; And earth, with her ten thousand tongues, Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise.
4 Wide as the world is thy command! Vast as eternity thy love;
Firm as a rock thy truth must stand, When rolling years shall cease to move.
Public Thanks for Private Deliverances. HAT shall I render to my God,
WHAT shall
For all his kindness shown?
My feet shall visit thine abode,
My songs address thy throne.
2 Among the saints, that fill thine house, My off'rings shall be paid; There shall my zeal perform the vows My soul in anguish made.
3 How much is mercy thy delight, Thou ever-blessed God!
How dear thy servants in thy sight! How precious is their blood!
4 How happy all thy servants are! How great thy grace to me!
My life, which thou hast made thy care, Lord, I devote to thee.
5 Now I am thine, for ever thine,
Nor shall my purpose move;
Thy hand hath loos'd my bands of pain, And bound me with thy love.
6 Here in thy courts I leave my vow, And thy rich grace record;
Witness, ye saints, who hear me now, If I forsake the Lord.
10. Praise to God from all Nations. (C. M.) ALL ye nations, praise the Lord,
Each with a diff'rent tongue :
In ev'ry language learn his word, And let his name be sung.
2 His mercy reigns thro' ev'ry land; Proclaim his grace abroad;
For ever firm his truth shall stand; Praise ye the faithful God."
The same. (L. M.)
ROM all that dwell below the skies, Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Redeemer's name be sung Thro' ev'ry land, by ev'ry tongue. 2 Eternal are thy mercies, Lord; Eternal truth attends thy word;
Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.
12. The Enjoyment of Christ; or, Delight in
1 FAR from my thoughts, vain world, be gone, Let my religious hours alone; Fain would my eyes my Saviour see: I wait a visit, Lord, from thee.
2 O warm my heart with holy fire, And kindle there a pure desire: Come, my dear Jesus, from above, And feed my soul with heav'nly love.
3 Bless'd Jesus, what delicious fare! How sweet thy entertainments are! Never did angels taste above, Redeeming grace, and dying love. 4 Hail, great Immanuel, all divine! In thee thy Father's glories shine; Thou brightest, sweetest, fairest one, That eyes have seen, or angels known.
LORD, what a heav'n of saving grace
Shines thro' the beauties of thy face, And lights our passions to a flame! Lord, how we love thy charming name! 2 When I can say, my God is mine, When I can feel thy glories shine, I tread the world beneath my feet, And all the earth calls good or great. 3 While such a scene of sacred joys Our raptur'd eyes and souls employs, Here we could sit, and gaze away A long, an everlasting day.
4 Well, we shall quickly pass the night, To the fair coasts of perfect light; Then shall our joyful senses rove O'er the dear object of our love.
5 There shall we drink full draughts of bliss, And pluck new life from heav'nly trees! Yet now and then, dear Lord, bestow A drop of heav'n on worms below.
6 Send comforts down from thy right hand, While we pass thro' this barren land, And in thy temple let us see
A glimpse of love, a glimpse of thee. 14. Call to Public Worship. (L. M.)
LL people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; Him serve with fear, his praise forth tell, Come ye before him and rejoice.
2 The Lord, ye know, is God indeed! Without our aid he did us make ; We are his flock, he doth us feed, And for his sheep he doth us take.
3 0 enter then his gates with praise, Approach with joy his courts unto; Praise, laud, and bless his name always, For it is seemly so to do.
4 For why? the Lord our God is good, His mercy is for ever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood, And shall from age to age endure.
15. Introducing Public Worship. (L. M.)
ITH one consent let all the earth,
W To God their cheerful voices raise; Glad homage pay, with awful mirth, And sing before him songs of praise. 2 Convinc'd that he is God alone, From whom both we and all proceed; We, whom he chooses for his own, The flock that he vouchsafes to feed.
