5 Blest are the men whose hearts are set
To find tbe way to Zion's gate ;
They lean upon their helper, God. 6 Cheerful they walk with growing strength,
Till all shall meet in heav'n at length;
2. God and his Church; or, Grace and Glory. (L. M.)
1 CREAT God, attend, while Sion sings,
The joy that from thy presence springs; To spend one day with thee on earth,
Exceeds a thousand days of mirth. 2 Might I enjoy the meanest place
Within thine house, O God of grace,
Should tempt my feet to leave thy door.
From foes without, and foes within. 4 All needful grace will God bestow,
And crown that grace with glory too;
No real good from upright souls.
The glorious hosts of heav'n obey; ..
3. Delight in Ordinances of Worship; or, God pre
sent in his Churches. (C. M.) IMY soul, how lovely is the place
W To which thy God resorts !
Tho' in his earthly courts.
His saving pow'r displays,
With kind and quick’ning rays.
Descends and fills the place;
And sheds abroad his grace.
The secrets of thy will;
While far from thine abode :
My Saviour and my God?
And suffers no remove :
To dwell but where I love.
And hear thy gracious voice,
Employ’d in carnal joys.
8 Lord, at thy threshold I would wait,
While Jesus is within ;
Or live in tents of sin.
And the more boundless sea,
I'd give them both away. 4. Longing for the House of God. (P. M.) IT ORD of the worlds above,
1 How pleasant and how fair
To thine abode
To see my God..
With pleasure seeks a nest;
My spirit faints
Among thy saints.
They praise thee still;
4 They go from strength to strength,
Thro’ this dark vale of tears,
O glorious seat,
I love it more
Than shine in courts. 6 God is our sun and shield,
Our light and our defence;
He shall bestow
And glory too.
His hand no good withholds
Thriçe happy he,
An Invitation to Worship. (C. M.) 1 SING to the Lord Jehovah's name,
D And in his strength rejoice;
Exalted be our voice. 2 With thanks approach his awful sight,
And psalms of honour sing;
The whole creation's King !
How mean their natures seem;
When once compar'd with him. 4 Earth, with its caverns dark and deep,
Lies in his spacious hand;
And where the hills must stand.
Come, kneel before his face ;
Be children of his grace !
1 New honours be addrest;
And makes the nations blest.
His truth fulfils the grace;
And learn his righteousness.
