Organized November 10, 1875, under the "Rapid Transit" Act (chapter 606, Laws of 1875).

Leased May 20, 1879, the roads of the New York Elevated Railroad and Metropolitan Elevated Railway Companies. With our report for the year ending September 30, 1883, we forwarded a pamphlet containing "Statutes and Documents affecting the Elevated Railways in the City of New York," including the leases, tripartite agreement, etc. Accompanying this report we send a pamphlet containing copies of agreements made by the directors July 1, and August 1, 1884, and ratified by the stockholders of the Manhattan Railway, the New York Elevated Railroad and Metropolitan Elevated Railway Companies.
