The Company also took leases, which were afterward cancelled, of the roads of the following companies:

November 5, 1897, of the Sea Beach Railway Company, cancelled March 1, 1907.

July 1, 1898, of the Brooklyn, Queens County and Suburban Railroad Company, cancelled July 1, 1901.

April 1, 1899, of the Nassau Electric Railroad Company, cancelled July 1, 1904. The lease of the Nassau company included the road of the Coney Island and Gravesend Railway Company, but the lease for the latter was cancelled July 1, 1900.

June 17, 1899, of the Prospect Park and Coney Island Railroad Company, including its leased companies, the Prospect Park and South Brooklyn Rail Road Company and The New York and Coney Island Railroad Company; assigned to South Brooklyn Railway Company, February 28, 1907.

July 1, 1899, of the Sea View Rail Road Company, which was merged May 9, 1900, with the Kings County Elevated Railroad Company, and May 24, 1900, through the latter, with the Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad Company.

October 1, 1899, of the Kings County Elevated Railroad Company, which was merged with the Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad Company.

July 1, 1901, of the Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad Company, cancelled March 1, 1907, including its merged companies which were previously leased to the Company, the Sea View Rail Road Company and Kings County Elevated Railroad Com

pany.

June 1, 1903, of the South Brooklyn Railway Company, cancelled March 1, 1907.

The Company is also operating the Williamsburgh bridge local cars, under a franchise granted to the Bridge Operating Company, and pursuant to an agreement dated May 21, 1904, with the New York City Railway Company and the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company, which joined this Company in incorporating the Bridge Operating Company.

With Bridge Operating Company. (See Bridge Operating Company, no. 19.)

With The Brighton and Bensonhurst Electric Railroad Company. April 3, 1902, granting permission to the Company to erect poles and string wires over a portion of the right of way of The Brighton and Bensonhurst Electric Railroad Company.

With The Brooklyn City and Newtown Rail Road Company. June 12, 1895, agreement by the Company, as lessee of The Brooklyn City Rail Road Company, granting trackage rights to The Brooklyn City and Newtown Rail Road Company, on the streets named in an agreement dated May 12, 1883, between The Brooklyn City Rail Road Company and The Grand Street Prospect Park and Flatbush Rail Road Company.

With Brooklyn, Queens County and Suburban Railroad Company. (See Brooklyn, Queens County and Surburban Railroad Company, no. 106.)

With Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad Company. (See Brooklyn Union Elevated Railroad Company, no. 112.)

With Bush Terminal Railroad Company. June 16, 1904, the Company granted to the Bush Terminal Railroad Company trackage rights for freight cars on Second avenue, between the former tide water line, at or about 38th street, and 41st street in the borough of Brooklyn. The Bush company was to procure from the commissioner of public works of the borough of Brooklyn all the necessary permits in the name of the Company.

March 1, 1905, the Company granted to the Bush company trackage rights for a crossing at grade on First avenue at 52d street, and the Company agreed to procure the consent of the Sea Beach Railway Company to the construction of a crossing at grade over its tracks by the Bush company on First avenue, at or about 65th street.

May 15, 1906, the Company and its lessor, The Brooklyn City Rail Road Company, obtained from the Bush Company trackage rights on the private right of way of the latter, between Second avenue and 39th street and Third avenue and 29th street.

With The Coney Island and Brooklyn Rail Road Company. (See The Coney Island and Brooklyn Rail Road Company, no.

With Coney Island and Gravesend Railway Company. May 1, 1911, agreement granting the Company trackage rights on the single track extension of the Coney Island Company "between the old town line and Avenue U."

January 29, 1912, agreement for reciprocal rights to suspend trolley wires on the trolley poles of the Company.

With East River Terminal Railroad. October 14, 1908, the Company, as lessee of The Brooklyn City Rail Road Company, granted trackage rights for a crossing at grade on Kent avenue, at the location shown on the plans accompanying the application of the East River Company to the Board of Estimate and Apportionment, dated January 15, 1908.

With The Long Island Railroad Company. October 19, 1895, agreement for construction by the Company of a crossing at Atlantic and Kingston avenues, and granting to the Company the right to string trolley wires at the crossing.

March 16, 1896, the Company obtained the right to cross at grade, the Montauk division and the Bushwick branch of the Long Island Company, at Flushing avenue in the town of Newtown.

May 23, 1896, the Company obtained the right to cross at grade, the Montauk division of the Long Island Company at Fresh Pond road in the town of Newtown.

April 26, 1897, agreement for operation of express cars by this Company and the Brooklyn, Queens County and Suburban Railroad Company, over the tracks of the Long Island Company from the terminus at Washington street, or from Grand street, in the village of Jamaica, in order to reach the various points on the line of the Long Island Company, and for the operation of passenger cars by this Company and the Brooklyn, Queens County and Suburban Railroad Company for excursion business to Rockaway Beach, Far Rockaway, and other points.

March 31, 1899, the Company obtained the right to construct double track surface electric railroad crossing over the tracks of the Manhattan Beach branch of the Long Island Company at Cypress avenue.

June 19, 1899, the Long Island Company consented to the change of motive power from horses to electricity at the crossing at Greenpoint avenue in Long Island City.

May 7, 1900, agreement with The Long Island Railroad Company for the operation by the latter of the tracks owned by the Prospect Park and Coney Island Railroad Company, of which the Company is lessee, between Ninth avenue and 20th street and Coney Island, commencing May 26, 1900, and continuing during the racing seasons.

March 9, 1901, agreement for the installation by the Company of safety appliances pursuant to an order of the Railroad Commission of March 22, 1899.

March 28, 1903, agreement for construction by the Company of double track curves, special work, switches and other appurtenances at Flatbush avenue and Bergen street, and at Washington avenue and Bergen street, so as to permit of the operation of the Douglass street cars along Flatbush avenue to Bergen street, thence along Bergen street to Washington avenue, and thence through Washington street.

By correspondence ending March 30, 1905, an agreement was effected for interchange of freight cars at Parkville, between the roads of the Long Island Company and the lessor of the Company, the Prospect Park and Coney Island Railroad company, and for the use of the freight house of the Long Island Company at Coney Island.

September 22, 1905, agreement for crossings at Fulton street and at Myrtle avenue on the Manhattan Beach Division of the Long Island Railroad; at Myrtle avenue on the Greenpoint Division and at the storage yard track of the Bushwick Branch (2,950 feet east of Bushwick).

January 22, 1906, the Company entered into an agreement with The Long Island Railroad Company concerning the provisions of chapter 507, laws of 1903, providing for the so-called Bay Ridge Improvement, and the proposed necessary changes of grade in connection therewith, and providing for the alignment of the roads of the companies and for the disposal of the "spoil produced by the grade changes, and for the exchange between the companies of the necessary parcels of real estate to furnish each with the new alignment and the necessary abutments and embankments therefor. The detailed account of the Bay Ridge Improvement may be found on page 847 in the history of The New York, Brooklyn and Manhattan Beach Railway Company (no. 465).

With Nassau Electric Railroad Company. (See Nassau Electric Railroad Company.)

November 22, 1909, agreement for reconstruction of bridge at Nostrand avenue over right of way of the "Manhattan Beach" division of the Long Island Railroad.

With National Express Company. April 3, 1903, the Company joined the Brooklyn, Queens County and Suburban Railroad Company and the Coney Island and Gravesend Railway Company in an agreement with the National Express company to provide the Express Company with express cars and to transport express

matter.

With Newtown Railway Company. May 8, 1895, the Company granted permission to the Newtown Railway Company to cross its tracks at right angles on Junction avenue at Main street in the village of Corona, town of Newtown.

With Newtown Creek Terminal Company. Agreement (undated) granting the Newtown company the right to construct an elevated railroad structure over the tracks of the Company "on Grand street between Morgan avenue, as proposed, and Newtown Creek" at right angles, and with a clearance of 15 feet, and granting the Company the right to support its wires on the lower side of the proposed elevated structure.

With The New York, Brooklyn and Manhattan Beach Railway Company. June 30, 1898, the Company obtained the right to cross at grade the tracks of The New York, Brooklyn and Manhattan Beach Railway Company on Halsey street, between Wyckoff and Irving avenues, in the borough of Queens.

November 22, 1909, agreement by the Company and its lessor, The Brooklyn City Rail Road Company, with The New York, Brooklyn and Manhattan Beach Railway Company and its lessee, The Long Island Railroad Company, for the reconstruction by the Long Island Company of a bridge at Nostrand avenue in Vanderveer park, borough of Brooklyn.

With New York and North Shore Railway Company. October 25, 1899, the Company granted to the New York and North Shore Railway Company trackage rights for a crossing on Fulton street at Washington street, in the village of Jamaica.

With New York and Queens County Railway Company.
