PROVIDENCE, TUESDAY, February 2, 1897. The two houses met in grand committee for the purpose of electing a commissioner of sinking fund.

John W. Danielson, of Providence, was elected commissioner of sinking fund, vice Samuel S. Sprague, deceased.

WEDNESDAY, April 14, 1897. The two houses met in grand committee for the purpose of electing a brigadier general. Hiram Kendall

, of Providence, was elected brigadier general of the brigade of Rhode Island militia, for the term of five years.

TUESDAY, May 18, 1897. The two houses met in grand committee for the purpose of electing an associate justice of the supreme court.

Benjamin M. Bosworth, of Warren, was elected associate justice of the supreme court.
