AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED AN ACT
TO INCORPORATE THE ASSOCIATION OF ST. JEAN BAPTISTE
OF MANVILLE, R. I."

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2 of an act to incorporate the Association St. Jean Baptiste of Manville, R. I., passed in general assembly, January session, A. D. 1882, is amended so as to read as follows:

Sec. 2. Said corporation may take, hold, transmit and convey real and personal estate to an amount not exceeding fifteen thousand dollars."

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

TO INCORPORATE THE WEENAT SHASSIT TRIBE NO. 6,
IMPROVED ORDER OF RED MEN OF NEWPORT, R. I,”
PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1895.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The corporation known as "The Weenat Shassit Tribe No. 6 Improved Order of Red Men of Newport, R. I.," which was incorporated under an act passed at the January session, A. D. 1895, shall hereafter be known as "The Weenat Shassit Association," with the same rights and privileges and subject to the same liabilities and limitations as if its name had not been changed.

SEC. 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, and this act shall take effect on and after its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT Passed May 19,
1897.
TO INCORPORATE COURT WESTMINSTER NO. 7694, ANCIENT
ORDER OF FORESTERS OF AMERICA," PASSED AT THE
JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1891.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the corporation created at the January session, A. D. 1891, of the general assembly as "Court Westminster No. 7694, Ancient Order of Foresters of America," is hereby changed to "Court Westminster, No. 27, of Rhode Island Foresters of America, Providence, R. I., and by the latter name said corporation shall have all the rights and privileges and be subject to all the duties and liabilities it would have been entitled and subjected to had not its name been changed as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, and this act shall take effect immediately.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED 'AN ACT Passed April
TO INCORPORATE COURT CLEAR RIVER, NO. 7490, AN- 22, 1897.
CIET ORDER OF FORESTERS OF AMERICA," OF BURRILL-
VILLE, RHODE ISLAND.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the corporation created at the January session, A. D. 1890, of the general assembly, as "Court Clear River, No. 7490, Ancient Order Foresters of America," is hereby changed to Court Clear River, No. 18, of Rhode Island, Foresters of America, and the said corporation shall hereafter be known by that name with the same privileges and rights, and subject to the same liabilities and limitations as if its name had not been changed.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT
TO INCORPORATE COURT LYMAN, A O. F. OF AMERICA,
OF MANTON, R. I.," PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION,
A. D. 1891, AND OF THE ACT IN AMENDMENT THEREOF,
PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1894.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the corporation created by an act of the general assembly at the January session, A. D. 1891, as "Court Lyman, A. O. F. of Åmerica, of Manton, R. I.," and changed at the January session, A. D. 1894, to "Court Lyman, of Manton, No. 7672, A. O. F. of America, of Providence, R. I.," is hereby further changed to "Court Lyman, No. 24, of Rhode Island Foresters of America, of Providence, R. I.," and by this latter name said corporation shall have all the rights and privileges, and be subject to all the duties and liabilities it would have been entitled and subjected to had not its name been changed as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

Passed May 20, AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE EDGEWOOD CASINO CLUB.

1897.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION I. Henry W. Dunham, Jr., George H. Flint, E. J. Littlefield, John A. Potter, Edward J. Hurd, George H. Thomas, F. J. Aldrich, William D. Porter and Walter A. Griffith, their associates and successors are hereby made a corporation by the name of the Edgewood Casino Club, for social and literary purposes, with all the powers and privileges, and subject to all the duties and liabilities set forth in Chapter 177 of the General Laws, and in any acts in amendment thereof or in addition thereto.

SEC. 2. Said corporation may take, hold, transmit and convey real and personal estate to an amount not exceeding ten thousand dollars.

SEC. 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

RESOLUTIONS

PUBLIC AND PRIVATE NATURE.

RESOLUTION creating a commission to revise the constitution of the state.

Whereas, Since the adoption of the constitution in 1842, the population of the state has largely increased, and its manufacturing industries and business interests of all kinds have grown in a still larger ratio, and

Whereas, From time to time amendments to the constitution have been made, including an amendment providing that in times of war soldiers and sailors who were absent from the state could still have the oppor tunity to cast their vote; an amendment providing that soldiers and sailors of foreign birth who served in the war of the rebellion should have the right of suffrage upon the same terms as native born citizens; an amendment extending the right of suffrage to all foreign-born citizens who are citizens of the United States, upon the same terms and conditions as those required of native-born citizens; an amendment providing for plurality elections, and others of more or less importance, and

Whereas, There is a wide-spread feeling among the people of the state that the constitution should be carefully and thoroughly revised and such changes as may seem to be advisable, in view of the changed condition of affairs since it was adopted, properly and carefully prepared, therefore

Resolved, That a commission, consisting of fifteen persons, to be appointed by his excellency the governor,

RESOLUTION recommending to congress the passage of a bill for the preservation of the United States Frigate "Constitution."

Resolved, That the general assembly of Rhode Island respectfully and urgently request the congress of the United States to take such action as will preserve the United States Frigate "Constitution" as a memorial of the nation's early victories on the sea.

Resolved, That the senators and representatives in congress from this state be, and they hereby are, requested to use their best efforts to secure such legislation as will accomplish said project, and to procure the necessary appropriation by congress for such purpose.

Resolved, That the secretary of state be directed to forward a copy of the above resolutions to each of the senators and representatives in congress from this state.

RESOLUTION requesting the opinion of the honorable judges of the supreme court on certain questions.

Resolved, that the honorable judges of the supreme court, be and they are hereby respectfully requested to give their opinion to the senate upon the following questions:
