AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE COUNCIL DON LUIZ FELIPPE, Passed May 13,
No. 1, BRISTOL, R. I. PORTUGUESE BENEFICIAL ASSOCIA-
TION OF RHODE ISLAND.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Manuel Andrade, Jose Julio de Freitas, Antonio Pereira D'Oliveira, Jose da Rosa Furtado, Emanuel Augusto, Miguel Ignacio da Silva, Francisco Pereira Lima, Henrique Estrella Serpa, their associates and successors, are hereby made a corporation by the name of Council Don Luiz Felippe, No. 1, Bristol, R. I., Portuguese Beneficial Association of Rhode Island, for the purpose of promoting and fostering the virtues of charity and benevolence, with all the powers and privileges, and subject to all the duties and liabilities, set forth in Chapter 177 of the General Laws, and in any acts in amendment thereof or in addition thereto.

SEC. 2. Said corporation may take, hold, transmit and convey real and personal estate to an amount not exceeding five thousand dollars.

SEC. 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF THE CHARTER OF THE RHODE Passed May 21, ISLAND MUSICAL ASSOCIATION.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the Rhode Island Musical Association, a corporation created by the general assembly of said state at the May session, A. D. 1891, is hereby changed to Rhode Island Music Teachers' Association, and by said latter name said corporation shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges, and subject to all the duties and liabilities it would have been entitled or subject to had not its name been changed as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect immediately and all acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AND IN ADDITION TO AN ACT
ENTITLED "AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE BROWN
UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION," PASSED AT THE
JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1896.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section three of an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Brown University Athletic Association," passed at the January session, A. D. 1896, is amended so as to read as follows:

"SEC. 3. Said corporation may receive in trust and hold in trust all sums of money and other property which may be given or devised to it by any person, persons or corporation for the purpose of acquiring, maintaining and equipping athletic grounds and appliances for the students of Brown University, and shall also have power to accept and execute all such trusts.” SEC. 2. This act shall take effect immediately, and all acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.

Passed May 13, AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT 1897.

TO INCORPORATE THE NEPTUNE BOAT CLUB OF BRISTOL,

R. I.," PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1884.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of the Neptune Boat Club of Bristol, a corporation created by the general assembly at its January session, A. D. 1884, is hereby changed to that of Neptune Yacht Club, Bristol, and by the latter name shall have all the rights and powers and be subject to the same duties and liabilities as if its name had not been changed.

SEC. 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed and this act shall take effect upon its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN "ACT TO INCORPORATE CER- Passed May 19,
TAIN PERSONS AS A SOCIETY BY THE NAME OF THE ST.
JAMES CHURCH AT WOONSOCKET FALLS IN SMITHFIELD,”
PASSED IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY, MAY SESSION, A. D. 1832.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. That section 6 of "An act to incorpor ate certain persons as a society by the name of the St. James Church, at Woonsocket Falls, in Smithfield," enacted in the general assembly, May session, A. D. 1832, be amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 6. And be it further enacted that the minister for the time being shall be ex-officio a member of the corporation and of the vestry, and each owner, lessee or hirer of a pew or of a part of a pew, or a family representative of such a person in the church, now or hereafter erected by said corporation, may be elected a member at any regular meeting by a majority of twothirds of the members present: Provided, however, that no member shall be entitled to more than one vote, and that one pew shall at no time qualify more than two persons to vote: and provided, further, that any person ceasing to be an owner, lessee or hirer of a pew or part of a pew, or to represent any such person shall thereupon cease to be a member of said corporation."

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect on its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT Passed May 14
TO INCORPORATE THE PEOPLES EVANGELICAL CHURCH
OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.'

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of "The Peoples Evangelical Church of Providence, Rhode Island," a corporation created at the January session of the general assembly, 1888, is hereby changed to "The Peoples Pentecostal Church of Providence, Rhode Island," and by the lat ter name shall have all the rights and privileges, and be subject to all the duties and liabilities, it would

have had or been subjected to had not its name been changed as aforesaid.

SEC. 2. passage.

This act shall take effect on and after its

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT
TO INCORPORATE THE EDGEWOOD METHODIST EPISCOPAL
CHURCH, IN THE CITY OF PROVIDENCE, STATE OF RHODE
ISLAND," PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A. D. 1895.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of The Edgewood Methodist Episcopal Church, in the city of Providence, state of Rhode Island, is hereby changed to that of Washington Park Methodist Episcopal Church, of Providence, and by that name shall have the same rights and privileges, and shall be subject to all the duties and liabilities it would have been subject to had not its name been changed.

SEC. 2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed, and this act shall take effect upon its passage.

Passed May 20, AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT

1897.

TO INCORPORATE THE TRUSTEES OF THE THAMES STREET
METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH, IN THE CITY OF NEW-
PORT," PASSED AT THE MAY SESSION, A. D. 1856.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. The trustees of the Thames Street Methodist Episcopal Church, in the city of Newport, a corporation created by an act passed at the May session, A. D. 1856, shall hereafter have the right to hold, possess and acquire lands, tenements and hereditaments, goods, chattels and property of every description for the uses and purposes authorized under their said act not exceeding in amount the sum of one hundred thousand dollars.

SEC. 2. Section 2 of said act entitled "An act to

incorporate the trustees of the Thames Street Methodist Episcopal Church, in the city of Newport," is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 2. The number of trustees shall consist of not less than three nor more than nine persons each of whom shall not be less than twenty-one years of age and two-thirds of whom shall be members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and they shall be elected in such manner and for such term as may be provided in the discipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church." SEC. 3. The said corporation shall hold an annual meeting on the first Monday in May in each and every year instead of on the second Monday in March as provided in said act.

SEC. 4. Section 4 of said act to incorporate the trustees of the Thames Street Methodist Episcopal Church, in the city of Newport, is hereby repealed. SEC. 5. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT Passed Feb. 5,
1897.
TO INCORPORATE THE RHODE ISLAND HOME MISSIONARY
SOCIETY," PASSED AT THE JUNE SESSION, A. D. 1847.

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 2 of the act entitled "An act to incorporate the Rhode Island Home Missionary Society," passed at the June session, A. D. 1847, is hereby amended so as to read as follows:

"SEC 2. The Rhode Island Home Missionary Society shall have power to hold estate, real and personal, not exceeding the sum of one hundred thousand dol lars."

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect on and after its passage.
