There is before the Senate a proposition for the reorganization of the whole Interior Department, and in connection with that proposition a letter from the Secretary of the Interior has been communicated to the Senate. I believe that that proposition provides for a similar reorganization of the pension department to that originally proposed by this bill; in other words, it provides for an increase of the salaries of the higher grades of clerks in that department. A copy of that communication from the Secretary of the Interior was sent to me as chairman of the Committee on Invalid Pensions.
