SECTION 3. AN ACT

To encourage the destruction of Wolves, Panthers and other wild animals, in Franklin, Cumberland, Bedford, and Indiana counties, and for other purposes

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority Premuims for of the same, That from and after the passing of this act, any destruction of person or persons who may kill any wolf or wolves, panther wolves, foxes or panthers, fox or foxes, wild cat or wild cats, mink or minks, and panthers within the bounds of Franklin, Cumberland or Indiana eounin Franklin, Cumberland ties, and who shall produce the head or heads of the same and Indiana before any justice of the peace in the said county, it shall be onuties in- the duty of such justice to examine such person or persons on

county commissioners of the proper county, together with the scalp or scalps taken from the head or heads aforesaid, and the said commissioners, upon the receipt thereof, shall have such scalp or scalps destroyed, and thereupon draw their warrant upon the county treasurer; if for the scalp of a full grown wolf twenty dollars each, if for the scalp of a wolf puppy, not full grown, ten dollars each, and if for the scalp of a full grown panther sixteen dollars each, and if for a puppy, not full grown, nine dollars each; if for the scalp of a full grown fox the sum of fifty cents, and for those that are not full grown, the sum of twenty-five cents; if for the scalp of a full grown wild cat, the sum of one dollar and fifty cents, and for those that are not full grown, the sum of seventy-five cents; if for the scalp of a mink twenty-five cents each for every scalp so produced as aforesaid, and it shall be the duty of such treasurer, and he is hereby di rected to pay the amount of said order.

SECTION 2. SECTION 4. If any person shall, in order to secure the re- Penalty for ward authorized by this act to be paid for the scalp of any violat❜n of the wolf, panther, fox, wild cat or mink, resort to the breeding and provisions of rearing of any of the aforesaid animals, such person, on conviction before a court of quarter sessions, shall be liable to a fine of not less than forty nor more than one hundred dollars, at the discretion of the court, which fine, when it shall have been recovered, shall be paid to the treasurer of the proper county, to be applied as other county funds are applied.

AN ACT

Relative to the erection of a Lock-up House, in the borough of Elizabeth, in Allegheny county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep resentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the burgess and town council of the borough of Elizabeth, in the county of Allegheny, be and they are erect lock-up hereby authorized to build and erect or provide and support in or contiguous to said borough, a suitable building, to be used as a lock-up house or place of security for the temporary detention of persons committed by a justice of the peace on any criminal charge for which such person or persons could be lawfully committed to the county prison, there to remain and be kept until such offender can be conveniently conveyed to the county prison, or until discharged according to law. Provided, That no person committed by a justice of the peace shall be confined in said house for a longer period than thirtysix hours.

A FURTHER SUPPLEMENT

To the act entitled an act for erecting the town of York, in the county of York, into a borough, passed twenty-fourth September, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-seven, and for other purposes.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rep resentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same That from and after the passage of this act, the burgesses of the borough of York shall have power by ordinances sanctioned by penalties to prohibit all nuisances in Co- Nuisances dorus creek, within the limits of the borough of York, and to direct the removal of arks, boats or rafts from said creek within said limits, after ten days notice to the owner or person having said arks, boats or rafts in charge, in like manner to prohibit the leaving unburied to a sufficient depth the carcass or any part thereof of any dead animal till the same becomes offensive within the limits of said borough or outside the said limits, within one quarter of a mile thereof, and to impose penalties upon the owner of such animal, and those who shall have permitted or procured such carcass so left to be removed from the property in their possession. In like manner to di- Fences rect the removal of fences which now do or hereafter may encroach upon the streets, alleys or commons within said borough limits. In like manner to impose and enforce the Shows payment of a tax not exceeding ten dollars per day, at the discretion of the chief burgess, upon circus, menagerie, theatrical, and all other shows and exhibitions within said borough, for attending which money is asked. To direct dogs to be killed and to appoint persons to kill them whenever the tax assessed upon such dogs shall not be paid within thirty days after the same shall have been demanded from the owner or possessor of such animal, and no sale of such dog after his assessment shall exempt him from the operation of this law. And whenever dogs shall be found running at large within the limits of said borough, contrary to the provisions of any ordinance of said borough, and without such muzzle as will effectually prevent said dogs from biting.

SECTION 2. The collectors now apppointed, or who shall hereafter be appointed, to collect any borough tax assessed upon the inhabitants of the borough of York, shall have, in all respects, the same power to collect the said tax as the collec
