Comprehensive in scale. Described the macro view of the events. Excellent large picture of Armies, Corps, and Divisions on both sides, the Wehrmacht and the Red Army. Burdensome and ponderous at times, though. But all-in-all, an excellent historical account in its depth and accuracy. Read full review

About the author (1975)

Erickson was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge and served in British Army intelligence. He is Professor and Director of the Centre for Defence at the University of Edinburgh.
